    Sam W. Seay

    Mr. Sam W. Seay, 91, of Lake City died on Monday, July 27, 2009 following a lengthy illness. He was born on December 17, 1917, in Selma, Alabama to the late W.J. and Pearl Craft Seay. At age 6 he moved to Jacksonville, Florida. Later, Sam served his country faithfully during WWII with the United States Army in both the European & Asiatic Theatres. He was a former Scoutmaster, with the Boy Scouts of America, member of Kiwanis International and served as President of the Corinth Cemetery Association. He also served in the Civil Air Patrol for many years. Sam was a former field office manager for B.B. McCormick Construction Co., upon retirement; he was an inspector for the Engineering Department of Jacksonville. He also owned and operated Seay's Fuel Service of Titusville and Seay's Crop Dusting Service in Fitzgerald, Ga. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake City, where he served loyally until poor health overcame him. Mr. Seay loved his home and family, his church and country, and he loved flying.
    Mr. Seay is survived by his wife of 63 years, Violet Green Seay of Lake City, FL; son, Sam W. (Carole) Seay Jr.; and grandson, Michael (Megan) Seay of Titusville, FL; 6 nephews and two nieces also survive.

    Funeral services for Mr. Sam Seay will be conducted on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church of Lake City with Pastor Robert Davis and Pastor Stephen Ahrens officiating.

    Interment will follow at Corinth Cemetery.
    Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 ? 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at the funeral home. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Memorial Fund of First Baptist Church, 182 NE Justice St., Lake City, FL 32055 or the Corinth Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 1212, Lake City, FL 32055.
