    Obituary:
    Funeral services for James L. "Tot" Wilkes, 64, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Wilkes Chapel United Methodist Church. The Rev. Ronnie Caulder and the Rev. Ladell Humphries will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is serving the family.

    The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 11, 2009 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Mr. Wilkes died Monday, February 9, 2009. Born in Darlington Co., SC, he was a son of the late Jessie Malone and Mae Etter Warren Wilkes. He was a member of Wilkes Chapel United Methodist Church where he served as caretaker and on the cemetery board for many years.

    Surviving are his wife, Charlotte Griggs Wilkes of Hartsville, SC; son, Jamie (Carrie) Wilkes of Hartsville, SC; daughter, Joy (Michael) Booher of Hartsville, SC; sisters, Mary Lou Hancock, Frances (Steve) McKenzie; brothers, Jessie "Boker" (Lou Ann) Wilkes, Gene (Deena) Wilkes, Jerry (Abigail) Wilkes, Lawrence "Pete" (Buffy) Wilkes; grandchildren, Makayla Booher, Malli Booher, Braxton Wilkes.

    Mrs. Wilkes, widow of Jesse Malone Wilkes, died Friday, Sept. 15. Born in Kershaw County, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Florence Douglass Warren. She was a member of Wilkes Chapel United Methodist Church.?
