Mrs. Evelyn Louise Wilkes Blue, 75, 113 Homeward Drive, Hamlet, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at her residence

She was born in Richmond County, April 6, 1932, to Neal Ernest Wilkes and Beulah Terry Wilkes.

Before retirement she was a secretary for Blue Oil Company. She was a lifetime member of the Marks Creek Presbyterian Church. She loved Gospel music and on Sunday evenings attended Highland Pines Free Will Baptist Church to enjoy their singing and service. One of her favorite pastimes was making Gospel singing video tapes and sharing them with others. During her lifetime she had bought and given them away over 90 Bibles. She also enjoyed visiting the rest homes.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, at Harrington Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at Marks Creek Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ken Goins and the Rev. Don Kivett officiating. Burial will follow at the Marks Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Blue was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Neal Ernest Wilkes and a son, Jimmy Ray Blue.

Survivors are her husband of 56 years, Mr. Ernest "E.F." Fredrick Blue Sr. of the home; her mother, Beulah Terry Wilkes of Hamlet; daughters, Beverly Quick and husband Bobby of Hamlet, Janet Green and husband Ronnie of Hamlet, and Crystal Glover and husband Ben of Columbia, S.C; sons, Jimmy Blue and wife Cindy of Hamlet and Ernest "Ernie" Fredrick Blue Jr. of Hamlet; brothers, Archie Wilkes and wife Jeanette of Hamlet and Eddie Wilkes and wife Peggy of Hamlet; 13 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made in Mrs. Blue's memory to the Marks Creek Presbyterian Church, cfo Juanita Owensby-Treasurer, 846 County Home Road, Hamlet, NC 28345.

Mrs. Beulah Terry Wilkes, 100, of 758 Marks Creek Church Road, Hamlet, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 1, 2015 at Rockingham Manor.

She was born in Richmond County on Oct. 24, 1914, daughter of Edward and Minnie Terry.

She was a lifelong member of Marks Creek Presbyterian Church. She loved being active whether traveling or working in her garden. Mrs. Wilkes also enjoyed singing in the church choir; now she is singing in the Heavenly choir.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Neal Ernest Wilkes; and daughter, Evelyn Blue.

She is survived by her sons, Neal "Archie" Wilkes of Hamlet and James Edward "Eddie" Wilkes and wife Peggy of Hamlet; sister, Eva Currie of Greensboro; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Harrington Funeral Home. At other times the family will meet at the home of her son, Eddie, 759 Marks Creek Church Road.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Marks Creek Presbyterian Church and burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Harrington Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Wilkes family.
