Mary Sue Ballard Duren

Mrs. Mary Sue Ballard Duren, 94, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Saturday November 29, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family after an extended illness. She was born in Ft. White on May 19, 1923 to the late William Thomas Ballard and Sarah Isabella Davis Ballard. She lived most of her life in the Lake City area and was a Homemaker for most of those years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Cannon Creek Ward, and was very active in her church, formerly serving as Primary President and Relief Society President as well as many other responsibilities within the church. She also loved to cook as well as sew and quilt in her spare time. She is preceded in death by her loving husband: Odest L. Duren; son: Jeffery Ballard Duren; siblings: Thelma Ballard; Otis Ballard; Carl Thomas Ballard; Baby Boy Ballard; Josie Mae Ballard; Earl Ballard; Myrtle Ballard; Donald Ballard and Sarah Elizabeth Ballard.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Duren will be conducted on Thursday December 4, 2014 at 3 P.M. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Cannon Creek Ward (Sisters Welcome Road) with Bishop Mark Duren presiding. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Union County. The family will receive friends from 5-7 P.M. on Wednesday evening December 3, 2014 in the Chapel of the Funeral Home. Flowers are welcome but if you choose to make a memorial donation, please make them to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Missionary Fund, 1604 SW Sisters Welcome Road, Lake City, FL, 32025.
