SOCIETY HILL - Margaret Pegues Thurman, 84, died July 23, 2011.
Funeral services were held July 27 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Ruby Cemetery. Visitation was held prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Thurman was born June 14, 1927, in Chesterfield, a daughter of the late John Willie "Bill" Pegues and Mary
Belle "May Belle" Sellers Pegues. Mrs. Thurman worked in the textile industry for over 40 years retiring from Cheraw Apparel in 1999. Margaret was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and loved working in VBS. She enjoyed working in her yard and growing pretty flowers. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband John Thomas "Buddy" Thurman and by her sisters, Alma Hunt and Mildred Kissiah.
Margaret is survived by son, James D. "Jimmy" (Bonnie) Thurman of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Linda T. Rivers of Hartsville; five grand-children, James (Sue) Thurman and Jason (Jenny) Thurman of Las Vegas, NV, Jenny (Jimmy) Stinson of Hartsville, Jaime (Chris) Jones of Kershaw, and Kim Rivers of Hartsville; also five great grand-children; special niece, Frances Rivers of Hartsville.
Memorials may be made to S.C. Alzheimer's Association, 4124 Clemson Blvd. Suite L, Anderson, S.C. 29621 or McLeod Hospice, 1203 East Cheves St., Florence S.C. 29501.
Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home served the Thurman family.
