    Annie Lou Vinson "Anne" Hickman

    LUMBERTON - Mrs. Annie Lou "Anne" Vinson Hickman passed away peacefully, with her children by her side, on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, in Southeastern Regional Hospice House in Lumberton.

    Anne was born Feb. 14, 1927, in Autryville. She was the daughter of the late Walter Cary and Mannie Hesba Vinson.

    After graduating from Stedman High School and attending Louisburg College, she was employed as a secretary on Fort Bragg. She later became a receptionist and then the dental assistant for Dr. Robert M. Olive Sr. in Fayetteville. It was there that she met her husband of 28 years, Henry C. "Hank" Hickman Jr. In her 50s,

    Anne returned to school to become a home healthcare provider. She provided compassionate care to several appreciative families over the years. Anne was a devoted and loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her deep faith served as a wonderful inspiration to her family and friends. A 61-year member of Highland Presbyterian Church, she was active in the Ladies Circle and many volunteer activities. Spending time with her grandchildren and gardening were her favorite pastimes.

    She is survived by her son, Dr. Edward Vinson Hickman of Lumberton, his wife, Jennifer, and their four children, Madison, Zack, Lennon and Hayden; and by her daughter, Kimberly Hickman Wilmer of Atlanta, her husband, Knox, and their son, Knox Jr. She will be missed greatly by her family and her many close friends, both old and new.

    A visitation will be held at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2011. The family also will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at Highland Presbyterian Church before the service.

    The funeral service will be held at High Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, with the Rev. Doc Wyle and the Rev. Matt Rich officiating.

    Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park.

    In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Southeastern Regional Hospice House, 1100 Pine Run Drive, Lumberton, NC 28358.

    Services entrusted to Rogers and Breece Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
