    Notes:

    Died:
Miriam Elaine Shutes of Panama City left this life to go to her promised heavenly home on Wednesday, December 19 after a long illness.

Miriam is predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Doris and Edd Williams of Cottondale, her paternal grandparents, Ollie and G. B. Shutes of Kynesville, her niece, Kathryn Crosby of Atlanta, and brother-in-law, Bill Moreland of Atlanta, GA.

She is survived by her long time partner, Robert Taylor, mother, Fredda Williams Shutes of Panama City her father, Bernard L Shutes of Kynesville; two sisters, Jennifer Moreland of Atlanta, GA, and Brenda Reed of Panama City. She is also survived by her niece, Amanda Hodges(Brian), nephew, Brandon Reed and two great nieces, Alexis Reed and Briana Hodges as well as a large extended family and her much loved pet, Jo Lee.

Miriam's greatest joy was to spend time with her family, especially family reunions. Miriam was born in Dothan, AL and with her family, lived in several states before settling in Panama City in 1973. She is a 1976 graduate of Mosley High School and attended Gulf Coast Community College.

In spite of being physically disabled since birth - followed by many surgeries, hospitalizations and health issues, she kept a marvelous attitude and determination. Along with her happy demeanor and constant smile she was an inspiration to all who knew her. She worked at several places for the disabled including the Easter Seal Clinic and the NCSC disability program. She was one of six disabled Floridians selected for a pilot program for disabled to establish their own business. Her business, Miriam's Busy Fingers used her computer skills for billing service for caregivers of the sick and the elderly. She had clients throughout the state and continued her work even during hospital stints and through severe health challenges. Miriam had a strong Christian faith which gave her strength to cope with the pain and adversities she suffered throughout her life. She felt herself very blessed. She was often seen downtown in her hoveround to visit and attend activities - her favorite being the Friday Fests. Her body may have been very impaired and in pain but it did not keep her from enjoying life.

The family would like to thank her many doctors Dr. Patrick Grace (ret), Dr. Sapideh Gilani, Dr. Riyad Albibi, Dr. Mansour and many other health care professionals over the years. Friends who were of tremendous support to Miriam include: Diane Calvert, Angela Posey, Linda Donor, Loraine Bruce, Amir Lizarraga, John Baxter, Beth Keeton, neighbor Jo Young and our Pastor, Dr. John Friedman.
