LYONS -- Mrs. Katie Thomas Powell, 93, died May 10 at Meadows Regional Hospital.
She was born in Ware County and lived in Collins before moving to Lyons 23 years ago. She was a homemaker and the widow of Leonard Powell Sr. She was a Baptist.
SURVIVORS: two sons, Leonard Powell Jr., and Marvin Powell, both of Lyons; five daughters, Eula P. Edwards, Lula Powell and Tera P. Collins, all of Lyons, Joyce P. Edge of Vidalia and Carolyn P. Dyer of Ellabell; a sister, Daisey May Turner of Baxley; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church, burial in the church cemetery.

LYONS - Mr. Jeffery (Jeff) Leonard Powell, 33, of 3091 Hwy. 280 East Lyons died March 17, 2008 in a tragic accident while traveling in Tennessee.
Jeff was a native of Candler County living his entire life in Toombs County.
He was a truck driver for DOT Foods for the past ten years and was a farmer and an avid outdoorsman and a member of the Jaycees.
Survivors include his father and mother Leonard Powell Jr., and Mozelle C. Powell, three sisters Becky and David Dreggors, Candace and Fred Brown, and Tina Powell. A special friend Nikki McCall, four nephews Matt Brown, Will Anderson, Sam Dreggors, and Jarrett Powell, two nieces Sara Dreggors and Hayley Whitley.
Visitation will be held 6:00-9:00 p.m., Friday, March 21, 2008 at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 22, 2008 in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with Reverend Glen Russell officiating.
Internment: Mt. Moriah Cemetery near Lyons.
Pallbearers will be Wes Miller, Wesley Partin, Jessie Sharpe, Kenton Frost, Michael Clark, and Jamie Beasley.
