Miriam Malone Johnson, 86, Punta Gorda, died Nov. 12, 2002.
She was born Dec. 7, 1915, in Punta Gorda, and returned to Punta Gorda after her husband's death in 1986. She was a 1933 Charlotte High graduate and class salutatorian. She moved to Captiva Island after marrying, where she spent years as a homemaker and a Bible teacher. She and her husband later helped start the First Baptist Church of Sanibel.
Survivors include a daughter, Janette Kidd of Punta Gorda; three granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Paul Schelm Funeral Home in Port Charlotte.

Beda Regina Wood, 88, of Lady Lake, Florida, died Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Arbor Village Nursing Center. She was born June 10,1922 in Coleman, Florida. She retired as a grader at A.S. Herlong, Co. and a member of Grace Bible Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn (Perry) Bolourtchi of Phoenix, AZ, Sherry (Terry) Parker of Lady Lake; grandchildren, Tony Boloutchi, Cindy Smith, David Hix and Samantha Nelson; great-grandchildren, Emma, Jack, Katie Boloutchi; Jessie & Levi Nelson; Genevieve & Cory Hix.
Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband, Ferran T. Wood.
Graveside service will be Friday, February 18, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Leesburg with Reverend Bobby Williams officiating.
