    Stella Norris, 84, died Sunday at an Abilene hospital. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel with Dwayne Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will be at the funeral home, 5750 HWY 277 South, from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday for visitation.

    Stella was born on October 20, 1919 in Lake City, Columbia, Florida the daughter of Ben Wheeler and Janie Robinson Wheeler. She married W.C. Norris on December 4, 1940 and his work brought them to Abilene in 1950. Stella loved her grandkids and loved being a part of their many activities. She loved football and cooking for everyone. She had the ability to encourage and comfort those around her and was a source of strength to everyone she knew.

    Survivors include two daughters, Alice Norris of Abilene, Essie Bright and husband Charles of Brownwood; one son and daughter-in- law, Steve and Sharon Norris of Rowlett; two brothers, Clyde Wheeler of Lake City, Fl and Kyle Wheeler of Jacksonville, Fl; five grandchildren, Chad Norris & wife Laurie of Forney, Brian Norris & wife April of Ft. Worth, Jody Norris of Arlington, Angie Howell & husband Kevin of Abilene, and Rick Sparks & wife Terri of Arlington; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988, two sisters, and three brothers.

    Obituary for Clyde Wheeler

    Clyde Wheeler, 90, died on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the Suwannee Valley Care Center (Haven Hospice). He was born in Benton, Florida, the son of the late Benjamin & Janie Robinson Wheeler. He served our country faithfully with the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He lived most of his life afterwards (1948-1999) in Jacksonville, working with the railroad at Fruit Growers Express. In 1999 he moved to Lake City where he has resided for the past 13 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who liked gardening and fishing, but most especially he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of Lantern Park Baptist Church, and a 32 Degree Mason in good standing with the Woodstock Park Lodge # 313. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Chesteen, Leon, Kyle, & Marshall Wheeler, his sisters, Stella Norris, Maude Norris and Betty Raulerson.

    Survivors include his devoted wife of 20 years, Alice Wheeler of Lake City, FL: daughter, Barbara Powell (Ray) of Jacksonville, FL; grandson, Edmund Jeffers (Kay) of Orlando, FL; granddaughter, Michelle Forte (Brett) of Jacksonville, FL; great grandson, Christopher Jeffers and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

    Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 9, 2012 at Lantern Park Baptist Church with Pastor Neal Howard officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Varnes Cemetery, Lake Butler, FL. Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening, March 8, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.     Alice Marie Norris, 71, passed from this life on June 5, 2015 in Abilene, Texas. Visitation will be 5:00 till 7:00 PM, Monday, June 8, 2015 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Graveside Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 9, 2015 in Elmwood Memorial Park.

    Alice Marie Norris was born March 4, 1944 in Lake City, Florida to William Charles Norris and Stella Norris. She moved to Ballinger, Texas when she was in the 2nd grade and later moved to Abilene. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1962. She worked at Zenith Cleaners, Timex, Texas Instruments and retired as office manager for Dr. Mark Orth D.D.S

    Alice was a friend to all she met and was the guardian angel to many. She enjoyed cooking for the family, especially cakes and was not afraid to try a new recipe. She always said, "someone would eat it". Her pride and joys were her nephews, nieces, great nieces, and great nephews. She loved watching them in their sports, plays, and school activities.

    She was preceded in death by her father, William Charles Norris; her mother, Stella Norris; and her brother, Steve Norris.

    She is survived by her sister, Essie Bright of Abilene; her sister-in-law, Sharon Norris of Rowlett; her nieces and nephews, Richard Sparks and wife Terri, Angela Howell and husband Kevin, Jody Norris, Chad Norris and wife Laurie, Brian Norris and wife April; her great nieces and nephews, Jeremy Sparks, Makenzie Kelley, Megan Sparks, Justin and Jon Howell, Jasmine Norris, Christian and Chase Norris, Nolan, Nylah, Neely, Nash and Nixon Norris.

    Steve Norris, age 62 of Rowlett, TX, passed away November 28, 2011. He was born July 29, 1949, in Lake City, FL, to William Charles and Stella (Wheeler) Norris. Mr. Norris was an Accounts Manager for Carquest Auto Parts. He was a member of The Corvette Club of Texas and loved cars, boating and racing. He also loved vacations with his family and spending time with his grandkids.

    Mr. Norris is survived by his wife: Sharon Norris of Rowlett, TX; sons: Jody Norris of Arlington, TX, Chad Norris & wife Laurie of Rowlett, TX, and Brian Norris & wife April of Ft. Worth, TX; grandchildren: Jasmine, Christian, Chase, Nolan, Nylah, and Neely Norris; future grandson: Nash Norris, due in April, 2012; sisters: Alice Norris of Abilene, TX, and Essie Bright of Comanche, TX; brother-in-law: Owen Smedley & wife Becky of Abilene, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

    Funeral services will be held 2:00pm, Thursday, December 1, 2011, at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00pm.     Alma Jean Raulerson Howes, 62 of Lake City, passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at home with her family by her side. She was born the second oldest of seven children to the late Johnny George Raulerson and Betty Jo Wheeler Raulerson. Mrs. Howes was a graduate of Columbia High School class of 1976 and a member of the Abundant Life Church in Lake City. She worked for many years with Suwannee Health Care and the Suwannee and Columbia County Sheriff's Offices.

    Mrs. Howes was preceded in death by her parents; her late husband, Howard Lewis Howes; one brother, John Raulerson; and one sister, Janice Marie Davis.

    Survivors include her son, Shawn Howes (Twyla), Fort White; two daughters, Jenifer Sullivan, Tampa and Tracy Howes, Jacksonville; three brothers, Benny Raulerson (Heidi), Jacksonville and Britt Raulerson (Joyce) and Jeff Raulerson (Cathy) all of Lake City; one sister, Allie Raulerson, Lake City; six grandsons; her best friend, Dot Livingston, Live Oak; and three brothers in law, James Howes, Cheifland, Doug Howes (Mary), Lafayette County and Jimmy Davis, Lake City.
    Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Cagney Tanner officiating. Interment will follow at the Live Oak Cemetery in Live Oak, Florida. Visitation with the family will be Sunday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

    Mrs. Janice M. Davis, 56, a lifelong resident of Lake City died unexpectedly late Tuesday evening, April 9, 2019, in the Shands at Lake Shore Hospital E.R.. Mrs. Davis was the daughter of the late Jake and Betty Jo Wheeler Raulerson and was a member of the 1981 graduating class of Columbia High School. She had been employed with Eastside Care ALF for more than thirty years and most recently the Columbia County School Board at Richardson Middle School for the past couple years. Mrs. Davis enjoyed doing yard work, planting all sorts and colors of flowers, riding motorcycles as a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She was a longtime and very active member of the First Full Gospel Church, currently serving as the Church Coordinator.

    She is survived by her husband of thirty-eight years, James T. "Jimmy" Davis; daughters and sons-in-law, Vicky and Danny Green, Heather and Hoyle Crowder, Jr., and Crystal and Matthew Bryson all of Lake City; her brothers, Benny Raulerson of Jacksonville, FL; Glen, Brit and Jeff Raulerson all of Lake City and sisters, Allie Raulerson and Alma Howes both of Lake City. Six grandchildren also survive.

    Funeral services for Mrs. Davis will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 13, 2019 in the First Full Gospel Church with Pastor Stan Ellis officiating assisted by Rev. Cagney Tanner. Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 Friday evening at the funeral home.

    Brett Allen "Pooh Bear" Raulerson, 58 of Lake City, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City with his family by his side. Mr. Raulerson was born and raised in Lake City, the sixth child of seven, to the late Jake and Betty Jo Wheeler Raulerson. He worked for 34 years with O'Neal Roofing and Contracting. Mr. Raulerson loved listening to country music, following NASCAR, especially the late Dale Earnhardt, and watching the Georgia Bulldogs. He was a great family man and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Raulerson was preceded in death by his parents; and three siblings, Alma Howes, Glenn Raulerson and Janice Davis.

    Survivors include his wife, Joyce Kennington Raulerson; children, Shane Nash (Denise), Shone Nash (Misty), Shannon Kinnear and Michael Tickle all of Lake City, and Ryan Whitehead, Kansas City, MO; siblings, Allie Raulerson, Lake City, Benny Raulerson (Heidi), Jacksonville and Jeffery Raulerson (Cathy), Lake City; eight grandchildren, Destinee Regar (Dustin), Thomas Nash, Araya Kinnear (Cody), Hunter Kinnear, Candice Hartsfield, Alexis Nash, Logan Montemurro (Leslie) and Alex Kinnear all of Lake City; and four great grandchildren, Roland Regar, Jaxon Duffy, Benjamin Montemurro and Kelstyn Tickle all of Lake City.

    Funeral services for Mr. Raulerson will be conducted on Monday, April 3, 2023 at 3:00 PM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Edenfield officiating.     Sonia Louise O'Steen, 45 of Lake City, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022 at the Haven Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center in Lake City.

    She was born February 27, 1976, raised and was a lifelong resident of Lake City. Growing up with two brothers and a sister, Sonia had many good times, like throwing cow patties at each other in the pasture. Sonia worked as a nail technician for Southern Exposure before opening Sunsations Tanning and Nail Salon in Lake City. No matter the occasion, Sonia could get dolled up with her hair and makeup perfect or being dressed in her camo to go deer hunting or fishing. She enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, going mudding with her Uncle Gary O'Steen and spending time with her family and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Boss and Ruby O'Steen; her maternal grandparents, Marshall and Frances Wheeler; one aunt, Alene Prebys; and one uncle, Gary O'Steen.

    Survivors include her parents, Colin and Brenda O'Steen, Lake City; two children, Blake Murray (Austin Wilemon), Orange Park and Colton Charles, Lake City; her siblings, Kelly O'Steen (Dusty McCray), Lake City, James O'Steen, Lake City and Colin O'Steen, Jr., Fargo, GA; niece, Kelsey Gonzalez (Jason Bass), Lake City; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

    Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 3:00 PM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Randy Ogburn officiating.
