Mrs. Hewett's Funeral
Adel, Ga., May 16--The funeral of Mrs. Lessie Hewitt, who was shot and killed by her husband, John Hewett, an account of which appeared this paper last week, was conducted at the Wilkes Cemetery by Revs. Elliott and Tippens on last Friday at 10 o'clock a.m. Quite a number of sorrowing friends and relatives were present to pay tribute and respect to the dead. It was indeed the saddest occasion which this people have ever been called upon to witness.
Mrs Hewett was, before her marriage, a Miss Wilkes, daughter of the late Duncan Wilkes, and leaves three brothers and four sisters and two little boys to mourn her loss, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
She was a consistent member of the Adel Missionary Baptist Church, and as true a christian as ever lived.
