    Vivian Cason Carpenter, 86, died July 5, 2000 in the Lake City Medical Center following a brief illness.

    Mrs. Carpenter moved to Lake City from Jacksonville six years ago. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Florida State College for Women (FSU) and her Master's Degree from George Washington University, Washington D.C. Mrs. Carpenter retired from the Duval County School System in 1978, following 39 years of service. She served in the WAVES during World War II, was a member of the ADR Sorority and of the Arlington Baptist Church.

    Mrs. Carpenter was predeceased by her husband, George.

    Survivors include five nieces and nephew-in-laws, seven nephews, numerous great nieces, great nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

    Hardage & Sons Funeral Home, Jacksonville, is in charge of arrangements.

    Private interment will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery in Jacksonville.

    Doyle Cecil Cason

    Mr. Doyle Cecil Cason, age 76, of Lake City, Fla. died Monday, Mar. 7, in the Suwannee Valley Care Center, Lake City, Fla. following an extended illness.

    He was born in Union County near the community of Lulu, Fla. and had resided in Lake City since 1972. He was the son of the late Cecil Dicks Cason and Gladys Williams Cason.

    He worked as a district circulation manager with the Florida-Times Union newspaper for over 35 years until his retirement in 2001. he was a member of the Lulu Baptist Church, a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, other memberships include the Elks Lodge #893, Moose Lodge #624, V.F.W., Lake City Shrine Club, American Legion and the Kiwanis Club all of Lake City, Fla. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.

    He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rose M. Cason of Lake City, Fla.: Two daughters, Terri (Scott) Blocker of McAlpn, Fla. and Fleicia (Jack) Larson of Macclenny, Fla.: Two sons, Tony (Linda) Cason of White Springs, Fla. and Jay Cason of Lake City, Fla.: Two sisters, Wanda (Kenny) Verneuille of Piney Flats , Tenn. and Barbara Ann (Dennis) Carpenter of Lake City, Fla.: Eight grand-children and seven great-grandchildren also survive.

    Funeral services will be conducted at 11 A.M., Thursday, Mar. 10, in the Lulu Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Bankston officiating and assisted by Rev. Jackson Cannon.

    Interment will be in Swift Creek Cemetery, Union County, Fla.

    Visitation will be from 5 to 7 P.M., Wednesday, Mar. 9, at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 SW Main Blvd., Lake City, Fla.

    P.D. Cason, 95, of Lake City, passed away peacefully Friday morning, October 23, 2020, surrounded by his family.

    He was born in Lulu on October 21, 1925 to the late Talmadge DeWitt Cason and Jimmie Lois Anderson Cason. PD was a graduate of the Columbia High Class of 1943; from there he entered the US Navy, where his two older brothers had chosen to serve as well under the command of President Franklin D. Roosevelt during World War II. He served in the South Pacific rim as a Gunners Mate of a P.T. Boat. He was proud of his 37th Squadron’s contribution to the successful victory in the Pacific during the war. Upon his return from the war, He attended the University of Florida in Gainesville and began his entrepreneurial career lasting his entire life, in the timber and cattle business. He married Jo Pearl (“Joppy”) Ives and raised two children, Dewitt, and Debbie. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shrine Club, Florida Forestry Association, VFW, American Legion, and Florida Boy’s Sheriff’s Ranch. He also served as a Board Member of Lake Shore Hospital and was a lifelong contributor to the 4H clubs of America and numerous other charities.

    He is preceded in death by his loving wife, “Joppy” in 1991.

    P.D. is survived by his two children, Dewitt Cason (Sherri) and Deborah Koons. P.D. had 7 grandchildren that absolutely adored him; Nicole Edwards (Trent); Buzz Brannon (Heather); Bryan Cason; Matt Cason (Carrie); And Amanda Koons-Newman ( Jeffrey) John Woodley (Katie) And Cov Woodley. He is also survived by fifteen great grandchildren and numerous friends. He is survived by one Brother; Delano Cason (Lillian); two sisters Abbie Mann and Robbie Sue Burris (Marvin) all of Lake City, FL.

    As per P.D.’s wishes, a private family service was held on Sunday afternoon at Memorial Cemetery, where he was laid to rest next to his wife “Joppy”. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Haven Hospice of Lake City.

    Franklin Delano (Del) Cason, 88, of Lake City, passed away at Haven Hospice on April 20, 2022, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Lulu, Florida on November 29, 1933 to the late Talmadge Dewitt Cason and Jimmie Lois Anderson Cason. Del was a member of the Columbia High School Class of 1952 and he served in the U.S. Navy in 1956. He retired from the Florida Department of Revenue in March of 1993. He loved his life on the farm in south Columbia County with his wife of 66 years, Lillian Martin Cason.

    He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Martin Dudley Cason; and his brothers, Donald Cason; Grayson Cason; and P.D. Cason.

    He is survived by his wife, Lillian and daughter Delan Cason-Etheridge; his only granddaughter who adored him, Della Katharine Crone (Andrew) of Greensboro, NC; his great-grandchildren, Cason Mitchell Crone and Parker Katharine Crone. He is also survived by his two sisters, Abbie Mann and Robbie Sue Burris (Marvin) of Lake City.

    A memorial service for Mr. Cason will be conducted at a later date. The family request that donations be made to the Haven Hospice of Lake City, Mikesville Presbyterian Church or Meridian Behavioral Healthcare.

    She is survived by her husband of 63 years Charles Marvin Burris; daughter Suzanne [Susie] Burris-Dryer; Daughter-in-law Teji Rakhra-Burris; Her grandchildren Ashton Artman and Adair Bosserman; her great grandchildren, Zane Bosserman and Adalyn Bosserman; and her sister Abbie Mann. She is predeceased by her son Charles [Chip] Burris; and Brothers, P.D. Cason, Grayson L. Cason Sr., Donald Cason, and Franklin Delano Cason.

    Robbie graduated from Columbia High School in 1958, going on to attend Tift College. She was a skilled typist and worked in a lawyer's office while Marvin was in college. She was an active member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church since 1970 where she held several offices and was very active in the church. In addition to her dedication to the church, her family was her main priority. She took pride in raising her two children, and especially enjoyed being there for her grand and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed boat rides on the river, hiking, and teaching her grandkids how to cook. Additionally she dedicated her time to taking care of her parents and her husband's parents in their later years.

    Private graveside services were conducted at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Florida United Methodist church Madison Youth Ranch 1647 NE Captain Buie Road, Pinetta Florida, 32350.

    LULU - Robert Earl Croft, a lifelong resident of Lulu, died Monday at Shands at Lake Shore following an extended illness. He was 76.

    Mr. Croft was a farmer.

    He was preceded in death by a brother, Delbert Croft.

    Winston-Salem-Frances C. Greene passed away January 23, 2013 with family at her side.

    Frances was born February 1, 1924 in Avon Park, Highlands County, FL. In 1983 she retired from Indian River County Health Department in Vero Beach, FL where she was an administrative assistant for 21 years. She faithfully served as the secretary of Perrine Baptist Church in Dade County, FL. In 2009 she moved to the Brookridge Retirement Community in Winston-Salem, NC to be close to family.

    Frances was preceded in death by her husband, J. Lewis Greene, eldest son, Thurman G. Greene, brother, William J. Cason, and sister, Elma Lee Cason Lord.

    She is survived by her children, Steven L. Greene (Tess), Larry A. Greene (Mona) and Jeanne G. Snowa (Lin), seven grandchildren, Matthew Greene, Jared Greene, Jason Greene, Wendy Greene, Heather Spivey, Lewis Spivey and Bill Snowa, and thirteen great grandchildren, Logan Spivey, Jack Snowa, Rachel Snowa, Gregory Kraft, Abigail Greene, Nicholas Greene, Andrew Greene, Kaitlyn Greene, Jake Greene,Cole Greene, Nathaniel Greene, Zachary Greene and Garrett Greene.

    She is well loved and will be dearly missed by all. A memorial service will be at Frank Vogler and Sons Reynolda Chapel, 2951 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106 at 2 PM, Sunday, January 27, 2013 with visitation to follow.

    He was born in Lake City, Florida and lived all of his life in the Lulu Community. He was employed with Owens-Illinois, where he was a heavy equipment operator and over-seer of their cattle and horse farm. After ill health forced his retirement, he raised cattle, horses, and sheep on his farm.

    He was preceded in death by his father, Robin Earl Croft. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lulu.

    He is survived by one daughter, Angela Croft Harrison ; one son, Robin Daren Croft, both of Suwannee, Florida, his mother, Ivalene N. Croft, of Lulu; three brothers, Craig, Rufus, and Buddy, all of Lulu; two sisters, Cynthia Jackson, of Titusville, Fl. and Rita Baker, of Lulu.
