A memorial service for Monroe Ford Greene, 90, will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov.10th at Shandon Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service in Fellowship Hall. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Ray Riddle Sunday School Class. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mr. Greene died Nov.6th. He was born in Crescent City, FL, to the parents of the late Zacharia Parker Green and Sallie Johns Green. A veteran of WW II and the Korean War, he was in the 77th Infantry Division serving in the Pacific. He served as an enlisted man and officer. He was separated as a major and received a Bronze Star, Expert and Combat Infantryman badges and Bronze Arrowhead.
Mr. Greene graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.S. degree in forestry and a master's in forest management. He received an award for Outstanding Achievement in the Profession of Forestry and was a member of Alpha Zeta (National Honorary Agriculture Society), Xi Sigma Pi (National Honorary Forestry Society, and Phi Kappa Phi (National Honorary Society at University of Georgia).
Mr. Greene was a consultant forester and land surveyor for 40 years. He retired from Kershaw County Assessor's office in Camden. He was a member and greeter at Shandon Presbyterian Church, a Sunday school teacher, Boy Scout leader, and a member of the Ray Riddle Sunday School class.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Martha McAllister Greene of Chapin; son, Clifford (Violet D.) Greene of Boston, MA; daughters, Susan Drossos of Chapin, Sandra (Stuart) Sosniak of Plantation, FL, and Barbara (Shahram) Novinbakht of Ballentine; daughters-in-law, Denise Greene and Kim Greene, seven grandsons, Russ (Nadia) Greene, Michael Drossos, Alex Drossos, Matthew Greene, Arya Novinbakht, Keya Novinbakht, Jhian Novinbakht; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Browne and Carrie (Cory) Land; one great-grandson, Christopher Browne; and sister, Eula Studstill of Lakeland, FL.
Mr. Greene was preceded in death by sons, Monroe "Chip" Greene Jr. and Gordon Greene.

Gordon L. Greene passed away on Friday, November 24, 2006 at Palmetto Baptist Hospital.
He was born on July 22, 1953 to Monroe and Martha Greene in Columbia.
Mr. Greene was a member of the Lower Richland Masonic Lodge. He was employed by the Richland County Public Works Engineering Department for over 32 years.
Surviving are his loving wife, Kimberly Greene of Hopkins; parents, Martha and Monroe Greene of Columbia; a son, Russell Greene and his wife, Nadia, of Myrtle Beach; a step-daughter, Stephanie Lindler and her husband, Johnny, of Little Mountain; a step-son, Mark Mills and his wife, Rebecca, of Ft. Bragg, N.C.; a brother, Cliff Greene of Boston, Mass.; three sisters, Susan Drossos and her companion, Paul Iverson, of Sunrise, Fla., Sandra Sosniak and her husband, Stuart, of Plantation, Fla., Barbara Novinbakht and her husband, Shahram, of Ballentine; and two grandchildren, Blake and Kelly Mills, both of Ft. Bragg, N.C. Mr. Greene is survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be missed by his pet, Lucy.
Mr. Greene was preceded in death by a brother Chip Greene.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 27, 2006, at Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Sunday, November 26, 2006 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home.
