    Mrs. Merlean E. Dopler, 84, of Lake City, died early Saturday morning following an extended illness. A native of Columbia County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest & Addie Tomlinson Douberley. Mrs. Dopler was a member of the 1940 graduating class of Mason City and on December 16, 1941, she married Duane E. Dopler. Mrs. Dopler moved to Panama City in January of 1942 to be close to her new husband who had entered the service and was stationed at Tindle Field. She returned to Columbia County in 1945 when Mr. Dopler was sent to serve over seas. She worked for a time in the A&P in Panama City but spent most of her life farming and homemaking. Mrs. Dopler enjoyed sewing, cooking and tending to her flowers. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints third ward and was active in the church Relief Society until her ill health.

    Mrs. Dopler was preceded in death by four sisters, Zeluan Tyre, Beatrice Robinson, Aurelia Peacock and Clarice Peacock.

    Mrs. Dopler is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, Duane E. Dopler and her son & daughter-in-law, Linden "Buddy" & Carrie Dopler all of Lake City.

    Funeral services for Mrs. Dopler will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Old Country Club Road) with Bishop David Morse presiding. Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.

    Mrs. Eva Beasley Stuart, 92, of Lake City, died Wednesday morning, May 21, 2008, in the Suwannee Health Care Center following an extended illness. A lifelong resident of Columbia County, Mrs. Stuart was the daughter of the late George W. and Mary Douberly Beasley. Mrs. Stuart had been a homemaker and was a member of the Columbia City Home Demonstration Club and was active in the "Country Kitchen Band" as long as her health allowed. Her spare time was spent tending to the flowers in her yard, farming and raking leaves. She did not tolerate leaves in her yard even when she became confined to a wheelchair. Mrs. Stuart was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mrs. Stuart was preceded in death by her husband, John Broward Stuart, Sr. and a son, John Broward Stuart Jr..

    Mrs. Stuart is survived by two sons, James "Freddie" Stuart of Okeechobee, Florida; Howell Stuart of Lake City, Florida; five daughters, Sylvia Williams (Hal) of Lake City; Sandra Horne (Corbett) of Gilchrist County, Florida; Eleanor Sweat (George) Jacksonville, Florida; Nancy Johnson, Jacksonville, Florida; and Susan Church (Don) Ft. Pierce, Florida. Nineteen grandchildren, forty-two great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren also survive.

    Funeral services for Mrs. Stuart will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 24, 2008 in the chapel of the Dees-Parrish Family Funeral Home with President Matthew C. Forsyth officiating. Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7:00 Friday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Haven Hospice of the Suwannee Valley, 6037 US Highway 90 West, Lake City, Florida 32055.

    Leland Nelson Douberley, 96, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, December 12, 2017 at the Solaris Health Care Center in Lake City after an extended illness. He was born in Lake City on September 9, 1921 to the late Wilbur W. and Bertha Williams Douberley. He has been a life-long resident of Lake City and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. After attending Columbia High, he delivered kerosene during World War II, and worked for many years with his father as a grocer at Douberley's Grocery Store. He worked as a salesman with Summers Chevrolet, The Hackney Brother's Grocery Company and retired after 15 years of service with the Lake City Fire Department. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 78 years; Robbie Markham Douberley in May of this year and his siblings; Myrtis Douberley Markham, Dorrie Rogers, Leta Martin, Hollis Douberley, Foy Mae Brownlee and Bernice Munns.

    He is survived by his loving children; Judy (Buddy) Lyons of Lake City and Fan (Joe) Hines of Palatka and his grandchildren; Stephanie Hines of East Palatka and Kyle (Jennifer) Hines of Hollister. Many extended family members and friends also survive.

    Funeral services for Leland will be conducted on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 A.M. (one hour prior to the services).     Mrs. Alzada Beasley Chace, age 86, died Friday, February 4, 2005, in the Macclenny Nursing and Rehab after an extended illness.

    The Lake City native lived in Jacksonville, Duval, Florida, before moving to Macclenny, Florida, in 1971. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Macclenny Ward, where she had served in various capacities. She served three full time missions including one with her husband, Alvin C. Chace in East Central States Mission.

    Mrs. Chase was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Alvin C. Chace, a daughter, Gina Rhoden, and a son, James Chace.

    Survivors include two daughters, Juana (Ronald) Vonk of Glen St. Mary, Florida, and Deborah (Steven) Bone of Lexington, South Carolina; one son, David L. (Laurie) Chace of Macclenny, Florida; one brother, Cecil Beasley of Fernandina Beach; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren.

    Funeral services were held on Monday, February 7, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Macclenny Ward with Bishop Zac Smallwood officiating. Interment followed at the Ebenezer Cemetery in Lake City, Columbia, Florida. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Sunday, February 6, 2005, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Fraser Funeral Home of Macclenny was in charge of all arrangements.

    Carlton Wesley "Rube" Douberley

    Mr. Carlton Wesley "Rube" Douberley passed away after an extended illness on the 14th day of April 2009 at the Haven Hospice Care Center in Lake City. He was born on the 17th day of May 1926 in Lake City, Florida to the late John and Ethel Douberley. On the 22nd day of September 1945, Carlton married "his priceless gift from heaven", Evelyn Hines Douberley who preceded him in death in 1998.
    Carlton had one son, Jerry Douberley, who preceded in him in death in 2007 and one daughter and caregiver, Judy Douberley Hurst of Lake City whom he regarded as his "angel from heaven". Carlton had two brothers that preceded him in death: J.D. Douberley and Edward Douberley and one living brother, Callis Douberley of Charleston, WV. He had two sisters that preceded him in death; Zelma Douberley Nettles and Agnes Douberley Keene. Carlton also had one special son-in-law, whom he regarded as a son, preceded him in death in 2000, Wayne Hurst. Carlton was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and "Great Papa".
    Carlton was raised in Columbia County, Florida and attended school in Providence and Lake City. He was a very hard worker and worked as a farmer most of his life and would proudly say he planted his first crop whe he was twelve-years-old with a mule and plow. When Carlton was eighteen-years-old, he was drafted in the United States Army and proudly served his country honorably in World War II. After the war, Carlton returned to Lake City and worked as a farmer and for the Veteran's Administration Hospital for twenty-seven-years.
    Carlton was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Third Ward in Lake City, Florida where he held the Melchizedek priesthood. He had a great love for the church as well as his church family and friends.
    Carlton leaves behind three grandchildren, whom he adored: Rana Montoya of Lake City, Florida, Don (Melissa) Hurst of Tallahassee, Florida, and Cindy (Shane) Edge of Lake City, Florida. He also left behind seven great grandchildren, whom he shall miss dearly: Joshua and Jenna Hurst of Tallahassee, Florida, Mean and Brock Edge, Suhailah and Sumiyah Al-Houmaidy and Cheyenna Montoya, all of Lake City, Florida.
    Funeral services for Mr. Douberley will be conducted on Friday, April 17, 2009 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Lake City at 11:00 am with Bishop David Morse officiating. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery next to his wife, Evelyn for all time and eternity. Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening from 6-8:00 pm at the funeral home.     Mr. Roy Pascal Douberley, Jr., 88, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Saturday July 26, 2014 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born in Orlando, FL on December 20, 1925 to the late Roy Pascal Douberley, Sr. and Lena Leila Nettles Douberley. He was a Butcher by trade; working for many years in the Orlando area and owning his own Grocery Store before moving to Lake City in 1972. He worked for Scaff’s Market for many years as a butcher and retired in 1992. He loved to fish and bird hunt; he also loved to garden and raise cows, which he continued to do after retirement. He also was an avid Florida Gator Fan. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a Navy veteran. He is preceded in death by his son: James Walter Douberley and sister: Doreatha Malloy.

    He is survived by his loving wife of 63 ½ years: Martha Bradford Douberley of Lake City; son: Dwight Roy Douberley (Yvonne) of Lake City and daughter: Cynthia “Cindy” Murrill (Jesse) of Lake City. Six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive along with many extended family and friends.

    Funeral services for Mr. Douberley will be conducted on Tuesday July 29, 2014 at 11 A.M. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Price Creek Ward (Old Country Club Road) with Bishop Jeff Thomas presiding.     Obituary

    Mr. Arthur N. Bedenbaugh, 90, a lifelong resident of Lake City died early Sunday morning April 14, 2013 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville. He was the son of the late Frank W. "Shorty" Bedenbaugh and Emma Douberly Bedenbaugh.

    Mr. Bedenbaugh graduated from Mason City High School in Columbia County and attended Clemson University after World War II. Mr. Bedenbaugh was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran where he served in Europe as part of the Engineering Division. Mr. Bedenbaugh retired from the Florida DOT and the Columbia County Road Department after over 30 years of service. Mr. Bedenbaugh then operated a consulting engineering business where he contracted as the county engineer for numerous counties as well as professional engineer of record for hundreds of subdivisions and developments in the North Florida area.

    Mr. Bedenbaugh was an active member of the Price Creek Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he had served as a Bishop for five years and as a member of The Lake City Stake Presidency. Mr. Bedenbaugh also served an eighteen month mission for the church with his wife in Australia and served as a Stake Patriarch until his death. Mr. Bedenbaugh's hobbies were visiting family and friends and spending time at his cabin in the North Georgia Mountains.

    Mr. Bedenbaugh is survived by his wife, of 59 years, Janie Raulerson Bedenbaugh, one sister Joyce Vorwaller (Blaine) Jacksonville, FL; seven children, Elleene Breazeale (Joe), Glen St. Mary, FL, Nelson Bedenbaugh (Barbi), Lake City, Greg Bedenbaugh (Judi), Lake City, Kevin Bedenbaugh (Marla) Jasper, FL, Terri Prescott (James), Lake City, Cheryl Bedenbaugh, Lake City, and Paul Bedenbaugh (Pam), Lake City. Twenty six grandchildren and thirty five great grandchildren also survive.

    Mr. Bedenbaugh is preceded in death by his brother Frank P. Bedenbaugh in 2005.

    Funeral services for Mr. Bedenbaugh will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (located on Country Club Road) with Bishop Jeff Thomas conducting.

    Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery.

    Mr. Frank P. Bedenbaugh, 81, a life long resident of Lake City died early Wednesday morning November 16, 2005 at the VA Medical Center Nursing Home in Lake City. He was the son of the late Frank Willoughby “Shorty” and Emma Douberly Bedenbaugh. Mr. Bedenbaugh was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran and was retired from Florida D.O.T. after 30 years of service. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing and was 2nd Lieutenant in Florida National Guard. He is preceded in death by his son, Frank P. Bedenbaugh, Jr. in 1998 and his wife Lillian Brown Bedenbaugh in 2000.

    Mr. Bedenbaugh is survived by one brother, Arthur N. Bedenbaugh (Janie), Lake City, one sister, Joyce Vorwaller (Blaine), Jacksonville, FL and numerous nieces and nephews also survive

    Mrs. Skidmore was a native of Lulu, Florida and had resided in Lake City for the past four years. Prior to living in Lake City she had resided in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for most of her life. She is the daughter of the late Loffiette and Lester Agnes Cox Pearce. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Lake City, Florida.

    Survivors include her husband of fifty-four years: Robert Skidmore, Lake City, Fl. Four sisters; Aleen Williams, Lake City, Fl., Juanita Young, Okeechobee, Fl., Lee DePoyster, Lulu, Fl. and Jeanette Guntner, Lulu, Florida. One Brother: Bennard Pearce, Lulu, Fl.. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

    Graveside funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 21, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. in the New Zion Cemetery, Union County, Fl. With the Bishop David Morse, officiating.

    Bennard Coy Pearce, 75, a resident of Lulu, Florida passed away Thursday November 22, 2012 at the Suwannee Valley Care Center following an extended illness.

    Mr. Pearce was born in Lulu, Florida and was a lifelong resident of Lulu. He is the son of the late Lafayette and Lester Agnes Cox Pearce. He attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was employed by the Department of Transportation as a truck driver for twenty-five years.

    Survivors include two sisters: Jeanette (Randy) Guntner, Lulu, Fl. and Juanita Young, Okeechobee, Fl. Numerous Nieces and Nephews also survive.

    Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday November 27, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Dees-Parrish Funeral Home with Bro. David Morse and Bishop Jeff Thomas officiating.

    Mr. Tedder graduated from Columbia High School in 1964 and Valdosta State in 1972. He is retired from ARAMARK Food Services.

    Mr. Tedder is survived by his wife of 32 years, Betty Jean Tedder. His daughter, Lisa Tedder Amparo Hampson (Bob). Son, Leo Ross Tedder, III. Stepsons, Randy Northcutt and Ray Northcutt and stepdaughter, Wanda Oliver.

    Ernest Robert Peacock was born October 16, 1944 in Lake City, Florida to Edwin and Aurelia Peacock. He passed peacefully March 29, 2023 in Palm Coast, Florida where he lived the past eight years.

    Ernest spent his early years working in his family’s chicken houses, climbing trees, and getting in trouble with friends. Ernest graduated from Columbia County High School, then briefly attended Lake City Junior College Forest Ranger School. At age 19, he served a two-year church mission to share his testimony of Jesus Christ in the area of Calgary, Alberta Canada. Afterwards, he pursued his education at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. Upon graduation he returned home where he met the love of his life, Gail Ward of Lake Butler. They were married 51 years and enjoyed a lifetime of family gatherings, church service, fishing, boiled peanuts, and homemade ice cream.

    Ernest was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in several church callings; including Bishop and Stake President during the formation of the Lake City Stake. In his later years he served alongside his wife on a church mission in Houston, Texas.
    Ernest was also an avid sports fan. He coached Pop Warner football and loved attending his children’s sporting events; basketball, baseball, and tennis matches. He rooted for the Florida Gators and in his later years, the Clemson Tigers. He knew stats, recruits, and game times like the back of his hand. If he enjoyed something, he wanted you to enjoy it too, whether that was a food he was eating or a game he was watching.

    Ernest had a generous heart, almost to a fault. He was always willing to help those in need. He was a joy to be around and a positive influence on all who knew him. He will be greatly missed, but has five beautiful children to carry on his legacy of love of family, Christ-like service, and Chinese Buffets.

    Ernest is predeceased in death by his parents, Edwin and Aurelia Peacock.

    He is survived by his wife, Gail Peacock and their five children: Lance, Steve, Clay, Jeff, and Jill, as well as 15 cherished grandchildren.

    Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lake Butler, Florida on Saturday, April 15th. A visitation will begin at 10AM with a memorial service to follow at 11AM.

    In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate at your local blood bank. During Ernest’s relatively short illness, he received about 30 pints of blood. (The average body contains about 10 pints.) From our experience we acquired a new awareness for the need of blood donations.

    We also encourage you to consider sending donations to help fund a center for at risk youth in Union County. This effort is spearheaded by the Victory Christian Center in Lake Butler, Florida.

    Ms. Camille Peacock Pearce, 51, of Lake City, passed away late Sunday evening, October 5, 2008 at her residence following an extended illness. Born on September 2, 1957 in Jacksonville, Florida, Camille was the daughter of the late Emory & Claris Douberley Peacock. She was educated in the Columbia County School system and graduated from the University of Florida with a Master’s Degree. She worked for many years as a counselor with Children and Family Services in Gainesville, Florida until her ill health forced her to retire. She returned to Columbia County in 1998. In her spare time Camille enjoyed cooking, gardening and playing the piano. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Shannon Collins.

    Camille is survived by a host of cousins and numerous other family members and friends.

    Mrs. Dicks was born on January 14, 1934, and is the daughter of the late Ira J. “R.J.” Robinson and Zedra Betrice Douberley Robinson. She graduated from Columbia High School, Class of 1951. She married her high school sweetheart, Rodney Seth Dicks, on July 5, 1953, and they were sealed on August 15, 1972, in the Salt Lake Temple for Time and All Eternity with their children Regal, Delvey, Kevin, and Jilene. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, currently of the Price Creek Ward, and served faithfully in many callings of the Church.

She had a true servant's heart as she was always the first to open her arms to those in need. Her words were full of wisdom and her actions echoed her faith. She loved her family and put them above all else, carefully watching the affairs of her household. Her husband, children, and grandchildren adored her and loved her beyond measure. She was a God-fearing woman whose inward beauty was beyond compare. Many women do noble things, but she surpassed them all.

    She is at rest in the arms of the Heavenly Father. She has inherited her reward. We were blessed to call her ours and will love her forever more. She lives on in the hearts and memories of those who loved her. Her legacy of love will be passed on as we strive to love with a heart as pure as hers.

    A celebration of her life will be held at Philippi Baptist Church in Lake City, Florida, on Wednesday, December 8th, 2021, beginning with a viewing at 10:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service officiated by Bishop Richie Miles and Councilmen Rodney Nettles at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the services at Philippi Cemetery.     Robert retired from Publix Supermarkets in 1986 after serving them for 23 years. At that time, he began his second career by moving to Graceville, Florida and attending Florida Baptist College. While in School, he pastored Eden Baptist Church in Coffee Springs, AL. After graduation, he served Providence Baptist Church in Clayhatchee, AL for fifteen and a half years.

    He retired from full-time ministry in 2008. Robert never really retired from ministry. Every day of his retirement, he continued to serve the God he loved above all. He had a passion for his Lord and continually looked for and took opportunities to share the gospel message with people he knew or met until the very end. Robert's life verse was Matthew 6:33 "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added to you." He believed that no matter how bad things may seem or if he could not understand what was going on around him, as long as he continually looked towards the God he loved, he had nothing to fear.

    Robert was born on December 29, 1941 to Robert Almon and Zola Taylor Beasley.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

    He is survived by his wife and the "love of his life" for 51 years, Ann, three children, Rondi Donaldson, Vicki Barlow (Brian) and Robert Beasley (Lisa). He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jonathan Donaldson (Emilita), Jenifer Wade (Aaron), John Barlow, Anna Barlow, Sarah Barlow, Emily Beasley, Matthew Beasley, Molly Beasley and one great grandchild, Lane Donaldson. Jenifer will soon be having his "tee-niny" baby, Ezra Wade. He is also survived by three brothers, Blaine, Cliff and Preston and one sister, Ernestine.

    William "Hal" Howell Stuart, age 65, of Lake City, Florida passed away on February 23, 2022, at Lake City Medical Center.

    He was born August 15, 1956, in Lake City, Florida to the late John Broward Stuart, Sr. and Eva Rhetta Beasley Stuart.

    Hal was a lifelong resident of Lake City. He was an auto mechanic by trade and enjoyed working on cars as well as racing them. Hal was an NHRA and NASCAR enthusiast. After work his favorite pass time was hanging out with friends at the Santa Fe River.

    Hal was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Broward "J.B." Stuart, Jr.; and grandson Damien Kornegay.

    A Celebration of Hal's Life will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Ferreira Funeral Services.

    Interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery.

    The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

    W.V. "Dub" Markham, 79, a resident of Lake City, Florida passed away Saturday August 5, 2006 at his residence after an extended illness.

    Mr. Markham was the son of the late Victor Hugo and Myrtice Douberly Markham.

    He was preceded in death by his son Scott Kimble Markham.

    He was a veteran of World War II having served in the army. He was employed with Rountree-Moore Ford as a car salesman for 30 years.

    Survivors include his wife of 62 years Martha Jean Markham, daughter Cheryl Sue (Frank) Willis, two sons Robert Victor (Jacqueline) Markham, and Ronald Eugene (Jennifer) Markham. Four grandchildren, Richard Willis, Troy Markham, Randall Markham and Wesley Markham. Four Great Grandchildren, Scott Willis, Blayne Markham, Haidyn Markham, Marina Markham.

    Graveside funeral services for Mr. Markham will be held Wednesday August 9, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. in the Bethel Cemetery with Rev. LEon McElhaney, officiating.

    Visitation with the family will be from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home,

    Steve Martin passed peacefully January 2, 2018, surrounded by family at Parkwood Healthcare Community in Bedford, TX. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Martin (North Richland Hills, TX), his 3 children: Kelli Martin Brew (Gainesville FL), Lori Martin Huffman (North Richland Hills, TX), and Mike Martin (Shady Shores, TX), 11 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.

    Steve was known for his integrity, sense of adventure, gentle wisdom and generosity. His family brought him much joy and he was a wonderful husband, father, papa, and great-papa. Family came from near and far to see him off with music, hugs and a great deal of love and gratitude.

    Steve was born in Orlando, Florida in 1935 and spent most of his early life in Lake City, Florida. He left Lake City after high school to join the Air Force and was soon selected to be the radar operator in an RB50-G Superfortress during cold war missions over Russia. Steve received the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service.

    After leaving the military, Steve returned to Lake City where he married his sweetheart, Sandra Dale Richardson in 1957. Soon after, he began working at Moore Business Forms, a rival of IBM at the time, as an entry level salesman. Over the years, his hard work, intelligence and belief in the company helped him rise to a senior level sales executive. During his 30+ year career, Steve was a mentor and model of integrity in business for a generation of employees at Moore and for his family.

    Steve loved the mountains. He took his family on numerous vacations to the Smokies and the Rockies before making a home in the beautiful San Juan range town of Pagosa Springs, Colorado. He and Sandy hiked and jeeped with the Gray Wolves Club, camped with friends and were regularly on the slopes at the Wolf Creek ski area. He lived his dream of living in the west and enthusiastically shared it with family and friends.

    Steve had many hobbies throughout his life. He loved to read and was a history buff. He loved music and built his own hi-fi as a young man. He became a private pilot as a young father and flew his family to visit grandparents, ski in NC and island hop in the Bahamas. A Florida boy, he loved snow and would watch the weather reports for the exact right moment to leave South Florida to make it to Appalachia just before it began to fall (he was an expert at this). As a grandfather, he loved giving the grandchildren rides in Papas truck, taking them white water rafting, horseback riding and fishing.

    Steve and Sandra's marriage was a model of love and commitment. They were married sixty years, and the strength and support that marriage provided allowed him to not only succeed in business but to engage deeply in other life activities.

    Steve was a quietly spiritual man and was active as an elder in his church. He lived his faith through quiet acts of service, like helping an elderly widow shovel snow, and driving cancer patients for chemo treatments in a neighboring town.

    Steve struggled with dementia the last ten years of his life. As his memories and personality faded, his family took comfort in remembering him and seeing his legacy in each of them and in their expanding families. The impact he had on their lives was evident in the gathering that took place during his last days, where children and grandchildren sang, laughed, and cried together during his passing, grateful for the life he lived and gave them.

    A memorial service will take place in Lake City, Florida in May, where his ashes will be buried in a family graveyard, next to his mother and father.

    Judith Douberley "Judy" Lyons, 83, of Lake City, passed away on Friday morning, May 3, 2024 at the Haven Hospice - Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City, after a brief illness.

    She was born and raised in Lake City, and was the daughter of the late Leland Nelson Douberley and Robbie Lee Markham Douberley. She lived with her husband for over 40 years in the North Georgia area and worked for over 24 years with GMAC. She retired in 1994 at the Branch Manager & Secretary for the Atlanta Branch. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, enjoyed living on Lake Lanier when they lived in Gainesville, GA and when she was younger, enjoyed needle work.

    She is preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Joe Hines; and her sister-in-law's, Mayme Louise Smith and Minnie June Davis.

    She is survived by her loving husband of over 66 years, W.J. "Buddy" Lyons of Lake City; sister, Fan Douberley Hines of Palatka; sister-in-law's, Annie Sistrunk of Lake City and Edith Marie Malloy (Dale) of Arizona. Two special nieces and nephews, Stephanie Hines of East Palatka and Kyle Hines (Jennifer) of Hollister along with many other nieces and nephews also survive.

    A graveside funeral service for Mrs. Judy will be conducted on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. in the Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Joy Bolander officiating. Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be considered to Haven Hospice, 6037 W. US HWY 90, Lake City, FL, 32055.     Tena Eileen Douberley Kattau entered this life May 8, 1950 and departed this life February 2, 2021. She attended and graduated from Columbia County schools and North Florida Junior College in Madison, FL. She was employed at Division/Lake City Medical Center for seventeen years.

    Tena enjoyed visiting family and friends. She adored her two nieces, Kim and Amy, and loved watching them grow up. Tena enjoyed reading, adult coloring, music, dancing and history.

    She is predeceased by her parents, Hollis C. Douberley and Jessie Mae Douberley and brother-in-law Parks Stallings, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Martha D.
