Mr. James David Hunter, 87, resident of Lake City, FL, died at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, FL., Thursday, April 10, 2008 after an extended illness. He was a native of Genoa, FL., son of the late Israel and Vergie Harrell Hunter and had made his home in Lake City his entire life where he was employed by The Department of Transportation for many years until his retirement. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist church, enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing, and was devoted to his family.
He is survived by two sons, Steve Hunter (Marlita), New Smyrna Beach, FL and Ron Hunter (Vi), Clyde, N.C.; 3 special nieces: Pat Kohlepp, Priscilla (Chuck) Moore, and Alexis Moore, all of Lake City; one grandson, Chris Hunter, Deland, FL; one brother, Ed Hunter (Jackie), Lake City, FL; three sisters: Mozell Herold, Gussie MacLaren and Pearl McElroy, all of Lake City.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday, April 13, 2008, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Bob Hazel officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to James Hunter Memorial Fund, StillwaterÂ’s Assisted Living, 507 NW Hall of Fame Drive, Lake City, FL 32025.
