    Notes:

    Died:
Simon Dixon, 74, passed away on April 13, 2022, following an extended illness.

He is survived by the love of his life Sharon Goode Dixon of Florahome; his son James David "Davy" Dixon (Sandy) of Palatka; his daughter Tiffiani Miller (Chad) of Florahome; his bonus son Randall "Josh" Eilbeck; sisters Ester Thomas and Onita Beville; sisters-in-law Donna Dixon and Linda Dixon; numerous nieces and nephews; his grandchildren Kariena Dixon, Aaron Miller, Karli Brinker, Kenli Brinker, Keaton Brinker; bonus granddaughter Mikaylah Jones; and a great-grandson James Dean Dixon.

Simon was born in Starke, Florida to Jack C. and Minnie Florence Dixon on April 16, 1947-the youngest of 15 children. The family farmed and sharecropped, so they moved around quite a bit until finally settling in Putnam County. Life could be a little tough, so he learned to be a jack of all trades and a survivor.

He was drafted in 1966 and served in the Vietnam War, where he was a member of the Army Corps of Engineers. Upon his return home to Putnam County, he started a job at Hudson Pulp and Paper and continued to work there after the mill became Georgia-Pacific. He worked for GP in the tissue converting plant for 42 years and made many lifelong friends, all while pulling "doubles" every chance he got as he always wanted to make sure his family had more than he did as a child.
He loved God and was a member of the Florahome Full Gospel Assembly Church, where he was a deacon, a song leader, and eventually an ordained minister. He married Sharon Goode in 1972, and the love they shared for over 50 years was so beautiful that anyone who knows them could see how much they meant to each other. He loved his children and grandchildren and became affectionately named "Pop" when his first granddaughter was born, and the name just suited him. He also loved his dogs and would feed all the neighborhood animals as he never wanted any of them to be hungry.
Simon's favorite activities were fishing and digging in the dirt. When he was able, he was usually helping someone fix something or building something. He had an engineering mind that could figure out how to make anything work. His loss leaves a big hole in his family that will have to be filled by his memory and the strength and love that he showed and taught to all who were around him.

A memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2022 at New Grace Baptist Church in Florahome during which a few words will be said by his former Pastor and Mentor Rev. Thelma Hensley, and his best friend Rev. Keith Hutchinson.
