N. Clayton Lee

Clayton Lee, 91, of Greensboro, died Monday, August 29, 2011 at Wesley Long Hospital.

Following a private inurnment at the First Presbyterian Church Columbarium, a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary.

Clayton was a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill and served his country in the U.S. Navy following Midshipman's School at Notre Dame University. He served with the Amphibious forces in the Mediterranean, Pearl Harbor and Okinawa during World War II, completing his service as a Lieutenant. He was a stockbroker for over 40 years with McDaniel Lewis, United Securities and J.C. Bradford.

He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, the Young Men's Bible Class at First Presbyterian Church where he was also an usher, the Chinqua-Penn Plantation Board, a member of the Greensboro Country Club for over 50 years and the Greensboro Investors Club for over 60 years. Clayton served as Chairman of the Trustees of the Greensboro Symphony Endowment Fund from the start of the Endowment in 1986 until 2006. He and his wife Caroline, the Chairman of the Fund, endowed a chair to honor their son Scott who is a jazz bassist in New York. Clayton had a lifelong love and involvement in music and enthusiastically supported the Greensboro Symphony, the Music Academy, the NC Symphony and other Arts, through various scholarships he and Caroline established. Socially, one of his favorite outings was the Brown-Gardiner Coffee Group.

Clayton is survived by his wife Caroline Mabe Lee; his children Martha Lee Williamson and husband Harry "Skeeter" of Raleigh, Carver Scott Lee and wife Sue Anne Johnson-Lee of New York, NY and Patricia "Patsy" Lee Stegall and husband Charles of Charlotte; his grandchildren Elizabeth Lee Tomatsu, Caroline Turner Williamson, Jordan Lee Stegall, Aria Anne Lee, Dillon Clayton Stegall and Hunter Farrell Stegall; his brother Russell Lee and wife Anna of Goldsboro; his sister Rachel Lee Williams and husband Rodney of Raleigh; and sister-in-law Patsy Mabe Barton of Eden.

Friends may visit with the family in the Virginia Gilmore Room following the service.

Russell Mack Lee

Goldsboro, North Carolina - Having lived a long and fruitful life, Russell Mack Lee died on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at the age of 92. Russell was born in Sampson County to the late Katie Tart and N.C. Lee on May 4, 1930.

In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by his daughter, Gail Lee Jordan; brother, Clayton Lee and wife, Caroline; and sister, Rachel Williams.

In 92 years of life, Russell experienced many challenging and wonderful events. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Russell attended the Edwards Military Institute and graduated from Westbrook School. This taught him organization, dedication, and determination. It caused him to see life differently and to enjoy the moments as they came. Serving in the military gave him the direction which guided him throughout his whole life.

Russell worked for many years with Lundy Packing Company and retired from Valley Proteins. The organization and leadership skills gained in the military served him well in this capacity. He did his job well and enjoyed the opportunity. These same skills also led him as he served God at St. Paul Church. Russell was a member of the J. Paul Edwards Sunday School Class and was dedicated to serving the church. He was also a member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club.

His life was, indeed, full and his course on this earth is now complete.

At his request, no formal services will be held.

Russell is survived by his wife, Anna Travis Best; grandchildren: Kevin Jordan and wife, Jennie and his son, Nathan and Lee Jordan and wife, Miranda and their children, Leigh-Anna, Emily, and Carter; son-in-law: Tommy Jordan and wife, Becky; brother-in-law: Rodney "Bill" Williams; nieces and nephews that were much loved: Martha Williams, Scott Lee, Robyn McChesney, Patsy Stegall, Renee Beavins and their families; and a special son: Alvin Best and family. He is also survived by his sons: Rusty Lee, and Barry Lee and wife, Sandy and their children, Taylor and Parker; special friends: Vickye Richardson, Vanessa Armstrong, Elizabeth Bridgers, Jacqueline Kannon, Harvey Reinhardt, Gary Partin and Graham Best; and his fury companions, Cecil, Kit Kat, and Sampson.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the compassionate care provided by Dr. Robert Kevin Talton and Dr. David Michael Fitzgerald. Love and heartfelt thanks is also expressed to his special caregivers and friends, Mildred Cannon, Marie Sugg, Diane Coley, Rita Rae, Linda Green, and Thea Williams.

Mrs. Gail Lee Jordan, 57, died Tuesday, November 4, 2008.

The funeral service will be held Friday at 2 pm in Trinity Free Will Baptist Church.

Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Jordan, a native of Newton Grove, was born August 5, 1951, and was the daughter of Russell and Mary Lee. Gail was a graduate of Hobbton High School and at the age of 19 married Thomas Leon Jordan. She began her career with the Department of Revenue and Museum of History and lastly but most affectionately with East Carolina University. Gail considered her love of God and family her most prized possession and began serving her Lord at Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Newton Grove and later transferred her membership to Trinity Free Will Baptist Church, where she had been a member for more than 30 years. The greatest joys in her life were her children and grandchildren.

Gail is survived by her: husband of 38 years, Tommy Jordan; children, Thomas Kevin Jordan and wife, Meghan, of Hampstead, and Clarence Lee Jordan and wife, Miranda, of Greenville; grandchildren, Nathan Thomas Jordan, of Hampstead, Leigh-Anna Jordan, Emily Paige Jordan and Carter Lee Jordan, of Greenville; and brothers, Russell M. Lee, Jr., and Barry N. Lee and wife, Sandy, of Simpsonville, SC.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 pm at Wilkerson Funeral Home, and other times at the home.
