    Deceased Name: David Tyner

    Mr. David Tyner, 86, of Hoffman died Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

    Mr. Tyner was retired from the U.S. Air Force, having served in World War II in England, North Africa and Morroco. He was a turret gunner on a B-17 and a flight engineer on the B-29 and B-36 bombers. His last assignment was with SAC as a logistics officer.

    Mr. Tyner farmed and started a gravel operation, which later became Southern Products and Silica.

    Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Tyner Silver Run Cemetery with full military honors.

    Surviving are his wife, Shirley Harvey Tyner; one son, John C. Tyner of Southern Pines; one daughter, Margaret Ann Tyner of Raleigh; and a grandson.

    The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Powell Funeral Home in Southern Pines.
