Bertha Jane Powers, 74, Palmetto, died Jan. 3, 1999.
She was born June 1, 1924, in Davenport and came to Manatee County six years ago from Miami. She was a secretary for Hartford Insurance Co., a life member of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and a charter member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 10068 in Naranja. She was an Episcopalian.
Survivors include a stepson, Donald Ray of Tampa; a niece, Joyce Poe of Bradenton; and two stepgrandchildren.
Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery. Kicliter Funeral Home is in charge.
