    Mrs. Berlene Canady Caison, 79, of Nakina, died Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Columbus Regional Healthcare.

    She was born October 19, 1931 in Columbus County, the daughter of the late Rhone and Viola Long Canady. She was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church in Nakina.

    She is survived by her husband, Jerry L. Caison; a son, Thurston Long of Nakina; five daughters, Dixie Yarborough & husband, Wayne, of Bladenboro, Kathy Smith & husband, Emery Neil, of Nakina, Margaret Fowler of Clarendon, Sylvia M. White & husband, Doyce, of Nakina, and Patsy Hamilton of Whiteville; a brother, Avery Canady & Wife, Sadie, of Nakina; eleven grandchildren, Renee Long of Myrtle Beach, SC, Donald Ray Fowler & wife, Dee, of Mollie, Tammy Coats & husband, William, of Loris, SC, Jamie Fowler of Mollie, Tracy White & wife, Angela, of Whiteville, Shawn Hamilton of Whiteville, Connie Worrell of Whiteville, Crystal Young & husband, Carey, of Fayetteville, Blake Yarborough of Bladenboro and Clarissa Hawks of Durham; fifteen great-grandchildren, Donielle Fowler, Morgan Fowler, Anthony Packer, Summer Lynn Ezzell, Wesley Fowler, Chase Coats, Isabella White, Cassie White, Taylor White, Selena White, Logan Hamilton, Dylan Hamilton, Joshua Worrell, Brittany Worrell, and Keagan Young. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Garwood, Sam and Kenneth Earl Canady, two sisters, Myrtle Long and Ulene Stevens.

    A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM, Friday, November 5, 2010 at Bethesda United Methodist Church by Rev. Carrol Fitzgerald. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

    The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8:30 PM, Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Peacock Funeral Home.
