Edward L. "Bill" Wilkes
Mr. Edward L. “Bill” Wilkes, 77 of Vidalia, died Monday, September 21, 2009.
Mr. Wilkes was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Otis Wilkes, Sr. and Ruby Gillis Wilkes; his wife, Glenice Hardeman Wilkes; and a daughter, Debra Ann Wilkes. He was a retired Security Guard with Brewton Parker College and was a member of the Mt. Vernon Church of God.
Survivors include, two sons, Don Wilkes, Alamo, and Jimmy Wilkes, Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Bonnie Edenfield, Sevierville, TN; a sister, Linda Mitchell, Stockbridge; 4 brothers, Lee Otis Wilkes, Jr., Warner Robins, Charles Wilkes, Soperton, Larry Wilkes, Mt. Vernon, and Aaron Wilkes, Columbus; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and 1 step-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 23 in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with the Reverend Robert Edenfield officiating. Burial will be in Walker Cemetery, Montgomery County.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Adam Wilkes, Shannon Edenfield, Trey Wilkes, Dusty Wilkes, Donovan Wilkes, Jr., and Stanz Wilkes.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
