Orville W. Wilkes
Asheville - Orville Woodrow "Hoover" Wilkes, 76, of 547 Eliada Home Road, Asheville, died Friday, March 17, 2006, at his home.
A native of Sylva, he was a son of the late James and Dovie Crawford Wilkes. He was a retired welder and a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Rhodes Wilkes; son, Michael A. Wilkes of Cullowhee; five stepchildren, Allan Turbyfill of Maine, Gregory Turbyfill of Canton, Keith Turbyfill and Karlya Buckner of Asheville and Sonya Chaffins of West Virginia; 15 step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
The funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Gashes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
