Oscar Damascus Roberts, 83, of Bunnell, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Florida Hospital Flagler following a brief illness.
A native of Vidalia, Georgia, he resided in Flagler County since 1973 moving there from Volusia County where he had lived since late 1930’s. Oscar had owned and operated Atlantic Roofing and Sheet metal in Daytona for over 50 years. He had previously worked as an electrician (IBEW) at Cape Canaveral. Oscar was a member of the White Strand Hunt Club as well as the Florida Cattleman’s Association and the Flagler County Roughriders. The 2013 Cracker Day Event held in Flagler County was dedicated to Oscar. He loved his horses and cows as well as his tractor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira D. Roberts and Florence Wilkes Roberts and 2 sisters, Jeannette Hull and Lula Mae Calhoun.
Oscar is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rosellen Roberts of Bunnell, his children, Ginger Brewer (BiIly) of Dog Leg, FL, Margaret Ann McClure (Eddie) of New Smyrna Bch, Billy Roberts (Kim) of Bunnell and Daryl “Catfish” Roberts (Sherry) of Palm Coast, 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Patricia Kersey of Daytona and a brother-in-law, Bill Kuhn of Ormond Beach.
Memorial services celebrating Oscar’s life will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Bunnell with Chaplain Ricky Bybee officiating.
