    Edna Herring Waldron

    Edna Herring Waldron, 93, of Lake Park, died Monday, April 26, 2010, at Lakehaven Nursing Home after a short illness.

    She was born Sept. 16, 1916, to the late Eli Perryman and Zora Clayton Herring. She was a lifelong resident of Twin Lakes and a member of Corinth Baptist Church. Mrs. Waldron retired from Lake Park Elementary School in 1981, as lunchroom manager. Even though she did not have children of her own, she touched the lives of many children while working at the school. She was recognized in the Georgia School Food Service Association Hall of Fame for the 8th District in 1981.

    She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including Lowell Herring (Shirley), Linda Kay Clarke (Del), Emily Anderson (David), Dale Miller, Marion Lawson (James), Lois Rumph (Robert), Elsie Prine (John), Eloise Forehand, Robert L. Hale Jr. (Joyce), Alicia Cowart, Ellen Blythe (Keith), Venice Taw, Donald Hodges (Judy), Jean Carter (Jerry), Ann Earley (Frank), Gwen Wilson (Bobby), Tommy Waldron (Barbara), Gary Waldron (Neacha), Jeffrey Waldron (Cheryl), Roy Waldron, Kay Thomerson (J.D.), Kim Carpenter (Pat), Carol Pendleton (Glenn), Dolores Carpenter, Russ Atwell (Cheri), Sherry Peterman (Paul), Elaine Maus (Tommy) and Bruce Atwell (Barbara). She is also survived by great niece, Joy Carter; and great nephew, Andy Carter; along with numerous great nieces and nephews and a special neighbor for many years, JoAnn Zipperer.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Barney Waldron; brother, Edgar Herring; sisters, Merle Miller and Iris Hale; niece, Faye Carter; and nephews, Jesse Mack Cowart, Larry Miller, David Carpenter, Kenneth Taw and Luther Forehand.

    Services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 29, 2010, in the chapel of McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park with Dr. Henry Cannington and nephew Ronald Carter officiating.

    Burial will follow in Carter Cemetery in Echols County.

    The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park.
