    Clyattville - Arva Lanier Wilkes, 93, of Clyattville died Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at Smith Northview Hospital. He was born on April 26, 1917, in Toombs County to the late Arva and Janie Wilkes and had lived in this area for many years. Mr. Wilkes was a member of the Clyattville United Methodist Church and a founding member of the Clyattville Volunteer Fire Department. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was retired from Owens-Illinois. He was a great fan of the Lowndes Vikings, Braves Baseball and NASCAR. Mr. Wilkes loved the staff of Ole Times Buffet where he enjoyed eating. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and great granddaughter.

    Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles Wilkes, Terry and Peggy Wilkes; his grandsons, Dustin Wilkes, Richard Wilkes and Barrett Wilkes, great-granddaughter, Alexandria “Alex” Wilkes, all of Valdosta; one sister, Rita Mae McKay of Jacksonville.

    He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mildred Thompson Wilkes.

    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 5, 2010, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Mollie Danner officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.     McKAY Mrs. Reta M. McKay passed away June 28, 2010.

    She was born January 26, 1913 in Vidalia, Georgia and moved to Jacksonville as a young lady. Mrs. McKay was a member of Faith Memorial Baptist Church and was a very gifted pianist.

    Mrs. McKay is survived by: son James R. McKay (Marie); daughter JoAnn Thomas (John); grandchildren Jennifer, Jason (Melissa), Jill (Brian), Michelle, and Cindy; and great-grandchildren Jenna, Tyler, Jace, and Jacob.

    Mrs. McKay was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, James P. McKay.

    The family will receive friends Thursday, July 1, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home.

    Graveside services will be held Friday, July 2, 2010 11:00 a.m. at Riverside Memorial Park.

    BLOUNT William Harold Blount (Bill), 76, passed away at St. Vincent's Hospital from Congestive Heart Failure on Thursday, December 27, 2012.

    He was born on January 8, 1936 in Jacksonville, FL to parents, Lonnie W. and Ruby A. Blount. William served and worked full time for the Florida National Guard. He retired as CWO3 serving from July 11, 1955 to August 26, 1988. At retirement he was serving in the 146th Signal Battalion. For the last 35 years, he and his 2 brother-in-laws (Al and Nick) have been owners of Union 700 Warehouse. He is a graduate from Robert E. Lee High School and Jacksonville Junior College (JJC).

    He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen Neal Blount, whom he loved dearly; son, Michel Scott Blount and wife, Susan; granddaughter, Helen Eileen, his precious angel; 2 sisters, Gloria Rhoden, husband Al, and Jackie Nicoli, husband Guido (Nick); including many other loving family members.

    The family visitation to greet friends will be held on Monday, December 31, 2012 from 10:00am until 10:45am at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL. 32205.

    Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 31, 2012 at 11:00am, at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery of Jacksonville, FL. Burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery.     Margie Wilkes Martin

    Margie Wilkes Martin, 81, died Thursday, February 8, 2007 at Candler Hospital.

    Mrs. Martin was a native of Vidalia and was a longtime resident of Savannah. She was a member of Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church, the Fellowship Sunday School Class and the Jane Shirah Circle.

    Mrs. Martin retired from Savannah Electric and Power Company’s Credit department in 1986 after 36 years of service.
    Upon retirement Margie along with her mother, Sema M. Wilkes released the first edition of a self-published cookbook “Famous Recipes” for Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House.
    Mrs. Martin was an active member of P.E.O. Sisterhood, Savannah Rose Society, Tybee Lite Supper Club and Bethel Burton Community House.

    She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Francis Willard “Bill” Martin, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lois Herman Wilkes and brother, James Carlton Wilkes.

    Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Marcia M. and Ronnie Thompson of Savannah, grandson and wife, Ryon Wesley and Lindsay Thompson, of Savannah, granddaughter and husband, Emily Wilkes and Corey Jones, of Savannah, a great-granddaughter, Julianna Wilkes Jones and a great-grandson, Peter Cullum Thompson, both of Savannah.

    Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 9, 2007 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

    Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

    Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

    Remembrances may be made to Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church, 429 Abercorn Street, Savannah, GA 31401
