    AMERICUS - Jeanette "Jean" Wilkes McPhaul, 95, of Magnolia Manor Nursing Center in Americus, Ga., formerly of Moultrie, died peacefully on June 4, 2012, at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus.

    Born Oct. 9, 1916, in Moultrie, Ga., Mrs. McPhaul was the daughter of the late Georgia state senator and superior court judge, John Anderson Wilkes Sr. and the late Mrs. Mattie Powell Wilkes, pioneer settlers of Moultrie. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Moultrie and was enrolled in the cradle roll department when she was an infant. She fondly remembered her days as a member of the Lena Tyson Sunday School Class. She was a former member and officer of the Moultrie Federated Guild and the Azalea Garden Club. As a young woman she worked as a secretary for several Moultrie business firms and enjoyed volunteer work as a Pink Lady at Vereen Memorial Hospital.

    She had a strong faith, a keen eye for fashion and a quick wit. She will be deeply missed by many.

    Mrs. McPhaul was predeceased by her husband, Howard L. McPhaul, and nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Jan Middlebrooks of Marietta, Ga., and Nancy McPhaul of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Woodard of Dothan, Ala., and James D. Middlebrooks III (Milinda) of Milan, Ind.; two great-grandchildren, Malisa Middlebrooks of Madison, Wis., and Patrick Golden of Dothan, Ala.

    James D. Middlebrooks III, John A. Wilkes III, Albert B. Maxwell, William M. McIntosh, Reginald Comer and the Rev. Saunders Pinckard will serve as pallbearers.

    The family wishes to thank her nephew, John A. Wilkes III, and his wife, Edna, of Norman Park, for their many years of care and support, her caregivers at Magnolia Manor in Moultrie and Americus, and dear family friends, Sharon Lawson of Norman Park, and Reginald and Mary Comer of Americus.

    The funeral service will to be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2012, at the Moultrie First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mark Addington, the Rev. John Brodess and the Rev. Joy Wilson will officiate. A reception at the church will follow the service. A burial service will follow in the family plot in Westview Cemetery.

    At 3 p.m. on Monday, June 11, memorial service and reception will be held at Magnolia Manor in Americus.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Moultrie, or to Magnolia Manor, or to a charity of your choice.

    Janet McPhaul Middlebrooks, age 77, a resident of Marietta, GA, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 following a brief illness at the home of her daughter in Dothan, AL.

    A Celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. (Central Standard Time), Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Glover Funeral Home Chapel, 1468 Hartford Highway, Dothan, AL, 36301, with Pastor Troy West officiating. The family will receive friends at Glover Funeral Home on Saturday from 1:00 to 1:45 prior to the services.     Janet was born on April 14, 1940 in Moultrie, Georgia to the late Howard and Jeanette Wilkes McPhaul. She graduated from Wesleyan College in Macon, Ga, with a B.A. in music education. She was employed at Helzberg Diamonds and was an avid lover of the arts, especially the opera. One of her favorite performances was playing the role of "Bloody Mary" from the musical South Pacific. She was a member of the Pensacola Chamber Opera and performed in a number of operas and operettas.

    Survivors include her son, James (Jay) Middlebrooks, III, (Milinda), Milan, IN; her daughter Elizabeth (Liz) Woodard, Dothan, AL; her sister Nancy McPhaul, Saratoga Springs, NY; two grandchildren, Brian Patrick Golden of Troy, AL; and Malisa Middlebrooks of Milwaukee, WI.

    The Family would like to thank the staff of Flowers Hospital, Kindred at Home, and especially the staff of Home Instead Senior Care for the compassionate care they provided to our mother.

    ALBANY, Ga. -- Mrs. Mary Prince, 77, of Albany, formerly of Fredonia, Ala., died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001 at Palmyra Hospital in Albany.

    Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 14 at noon (EST) at Fredonia United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joyce Woodstuff officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

    Mrs. Prince is survived by her daughter, Sujette Prince of Campobello, S.C.; her son, William H. Prince Jr. of Abingdon, Va.; her brother, William Gibb Tucker of Texas; and five grandchildren.

    Born Oct. 1, 1923 in Moultrie, Ga., Mrs. Prince was a homemaker. She was a member of Fredonia United Methodist Church and the Fredonia Community Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Prince. She was the daughter of the late Mary Wilkes Tucker and Lucius Lee Tucker.

    The family will receive friends Tuesday, Feb. 13 from 7 until 9 p.m. (EST) at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.

    William Gibbs Tucker of Georgetown, Texas, has been called home by our heavenly father on January 27, 2010, at the age of 80. He was born in Moultrie, Georgia on June 12, 1929.

    Anyone who ever met him appreciated his eloquence and humor. For those whose lives he touched, they knew him as a man of faith and family. His strong ethical values he taught by example.

    He graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Civil Engineering after which, he served in the Army's Corp of Engineers. He had the privilege of serving our country in France during the post war reconstruction. Through this he found a love for traveling in Europe, which he added to his interests in reading, music and nature. As a family we have many special memories and will continue to cherish the stories he told of his life's adventures.

    For 32 years he worked for J.A. Jones Construction Company from which he retired in 1993 as Vice President/Construction Manager. His work allowed us as a family to live in many places from California to Virginia. He never lost his fascination and appreciation for commercial construction and architecture.

    During his retirement he became active in church through Bible study and serving as a Stephens Minister. Traveling continued to be a priority and pleasure. He was also involved with The Military Order of the World Wars.

    He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gudrun Tucker; son, Karsten Tucker and wife Bel; daughter, Brenna Metz and husband Alex; daughter, Rebecca Glace and husband Chuck; and nine grandchildren.

    Visitation will be on Sunday, January 31 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 1 at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Georgetown. A private interment will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
