    Deceased Name: John Randle Cason

    OFFERMAN- John Randle Cason, 89, passed away Thursday afternoon (Oct. 1, 2009) at his residence following a lengthy illness.

    A native and life-long resident of Pierce County, he worked as a carpenter and farmer all of his life.

    He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and was a son of the late John Manuel and Mary Arelia Clark Cason. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Boyette Cason, his second wife, Evelyn Barnes Cason, three sons, Raymond Cecil Cason, Joe Barnes and Jamie Barnes, and several brothers and sisters.

    Survivors include six daughters and four sons-in-law, Sandra Davis, of Hortense, Linda Brinkley, of Jesup, Peggy and Melvin Dover, of Screven, Margaret and Clint Bargeron, of Blackshear, Gloria and Terry Rapier, of Maryville, Tenn., and Anita and Joe Gardner, of Jesup; four sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Marlene Cason, of Patterson, John H. and Margie Cason, of Blackshear, and Rusty and Gail Barnes and Bill and Tina Barnes, all of Jesup; two daughters-in-law, Mary Alice Westberry Cason, of Patterson, and Karen Clark Barnes, of Jesup; two sisters and a brother-inlaw, Mary Miller, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Berti Mae and Nicky Miller, of Callahan, Fla.; a brother, Lewis Cason, of Patterson; 39 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren, two great-greatgrandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

    The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

    Interment will be in the Mill Creek Cemetery.

    Visitation will be this evening from 6 until 9 at the funeral home.
    The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

    Deceased Name: Lewis Monroe Cason

    Lewis Monroe Cason, 87, of Patterson, passed away Saturday evening (July 16, 2011) at the Baptist Village Nursing Home.

    Born in Patterson April 28, 1924, he lived in Pierce County all of his life. He was a farmer but also worked with J. P. Barnard Construction from which he retired.

    He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he was in the Good Times Sunday School class and was also a U. S. Army veteran having served during WorldWar II.

    He loved to fish, go to church and spend time with his family.

    He was a son of the late John Manual and Mary Arilie Clark Cason. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Thedius Monita Boyette Cason, six sisters and all six of his brothers.

    Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Tommy Colley and Linda and Dewey Lowman, all of Patterson; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Miller, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Bertie Mae and John Miller, of Callahan, Fla.; five grandchildren, Deena and Kevin Woodcock, Hank and Regina Colley, Duane and Judy Lowman, Rosalind and Brian Tyrone and Tara and Ken Dixon; nine great-grandchildren, Macy Woodcock, Dara Faye Colley, Drei Colley, Mickey Dixon, Lizzie Dixon, Ashton Colley, Ethan Lowman, Emma Tyrone and Ellis Tyrone; a special friend, Jimmy Brown, of Patterson; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

    The funeral will be held at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

    Interment will be in the Mill Creek Cemetery.

    Visitation will be today from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

    The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

    The family requests that members of the Good Times Sunday School class serve as honorary pallbearers and are asked to meet at the church by 10:30 Tuesday morning.

    PATTERSON- The funeral for Lewis Monroe Cason, 87, was held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

    Officiating were the Rev. I. B. Boyette, the Rev. James Lightsey and Pastor Marshall Dixon.

    Interment was in the Mill Creek Cemetery.

    Active pallbearers were Oliver Cason, Truman Cason, Kenneth Cason, Joseph Boyette, J. H. Cason and Jerry Cason.

    Honorary pallbearers were members of the Good Times Sunday School Class.

    Pearson-Dial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

    Rev. Frank S. Cason, 76, of Jesup died Oct. 21, 2005, after an extended illness. The Pierce County native had lived in Wayne County the past 47 years. He was a retired Baptist minister, a U.S. Marine veteran, and an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Ritch Baptist Church.

    Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Geneva Dennison Cason of Jesup; a daughter, Carolyn Cason of Jesup; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ben and Kimberly Cason of Jesup and Travis and Cathy Cason of Hazlehurst; two brothers, Randall Cason and Lewis Cason, both of Offerman; three sisters, Sarah Bell Neilson of Offerman, Mary Miller of Keystone Heights, Fla., and Bertie Mae Miller of Orange Park, Fla.; 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services were held Oct. 24, 2005, from Rinehart and Sons Chapel with the Rev. Charles Manning and the Rev. Wayne Manning officiating.

    Interment was in Ritch Cemetery.     Bertie Mae Cason Miller, 82, of Callahan, went Home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 15, 2020 at 2:43 a.m. She was surrounded by her eternally blessed daughter, Cherie, precious niece she called "Sis", Cindy Miller Harper, and other family members. She was born and raised in Patterson, Georgia on July 7, 1937 to the late John Emanuel Cason and Mary Arellia Clark Cason.

    Bertie began her career after graduation. She moved to Jacksonville, Florida taking a position at First Union Bank on Main Street. She married the love of her life, John Troy Miller, Jr., in March 1957. Together they raised two children, her daughter Cherie Miller, and son, Robert Channing Miller. As they reached school age, she returned to her career at First Baptist Church of West Hollywood and Hollywood Christian School as Accounts Receivable Specialist. Her work ethic was so vast that upon retirement it took 3 individuals to fill her position. She then moved to Melrose, Florida and became a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church of Keystone Heights, Florida. It is there she accepted a ministry as Sunshine Committee Chairman. From 1987 until the weeks before she passed, she sent cards to shut ins, the ill, family and friends, thinking of you cards, birthday, anniversaries, holidays, for the Hope and Joy Sunday School classes, and along the way added the men's class. Millions of cards have been sent to lead people to Christ, send condolences, encourage, and let them know they are thought and prayed for daily. She was a beacon of light to hundreds that needed a touch from God. Her quiet ministry reached all over the U.S. and abroad. All being done in the quietness of her home and in later years even on her vacations. This ministry was life to her and she loved serving her Savior Jesus Christ with all her heart.

    Bertie was a dedicated, faithful, sweet wife, a loving Christian mother, and the baby of 15 siblings. Her life was huge, special, and her heart was filled with Godly love and wisdom. Her whole being radiated all that God wants His children to be. She was a prayer warrior with a lifetime of prayers spoken. She saw many prayers answered and told Cherie there were still many still to answer and He will do it, too.

    Bertie is survived by her daughter, Cherie Miller, of Callahan; her granddaughter (Robert's daughter) Christina Eliane Williams; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews plus countless cousins. Along with her parents, John and Mary Cason, she was preceded in death by her faithful husband, "Nick"; her son Robert; all 14 of her siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and lastly the vast number of friends from all over the U.S. and abroad.

    A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, February 24, 2020 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Marc Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior beginning at 10:00 a.m.

He was a member of Patmos Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Cason was a retired well driller. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nadine Denison and a brother, Lavon Cason.

    She was a daughter of the late Nolen C. and Sarah Bell Cason Boyette, and was also preceded in death by her first husband, Daniel Beal Strickland, and her second husband, William Warren Tuten; one grandchild, Wesley Wayne Martin; three sisters, Scecila Murray, Juliette Chancey and Nancy King; one brother, James Robert Boyette.

    She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and will also be remembered as hardworking.

Mrs. Davis had worked with her husband farming and feeding the many young people who helped them. Later, after her husband quit farming, she went to work for Paige's and Jack’s Country Mall in the deli. Mrs. Davis was a member of Satilla Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School for many years. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly and will be missed.

    She was the daughter of the late Jack Randall and Edna Boyett Cason. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Davis, and a brother, Raymond Cason.

    Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Frank Nichols of Hortense; her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Jeanna Davis of Screven; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Marlene Cason and J.H. and Margie Cason all of Blackshear; 4 grandchildren Ryan Davis, Courtney (Johnny) Miller, Taylor Davis, Ashley (Curtis) Boyd; 6 great grandchildren Mason Davis, Hannah Davis, Addie Cliatt, Anleigh Grace Davis, J.E.     Mr. Jack Ronald “Ronnie” Cason, 76 of Patterson, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at the Bacon County Hospital.

    Born in Patterson, GA on March 29, 1945, he had lived in Pierce County of his life. Mr. Cason was a Patterson High School graduate and retired from CSX Transportation where he had been a signalman. He loved fishing, spending time with his family, and working at his church, University Blvd. Church of God.

    He was a son of the late John Randal & Edna Boyett Cason. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Davis; and by a brother, Raymond Cason.

    Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Marlene Gill Cason of Patterson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Matt & Susan Cason of Mauk, GA and Chris & Marlana Cason of Waycross; his brother, J. H. Cason, wife Margie, of Blackshear; 5 grandchildren, Joshua Cason, Zachary Cason, wife Madison, Autumn Cason, Brianna Dowling, husband Trevor, and Hayden Cason; two great grandchildren, Cordelia Dowling and Huxton Dowling; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

    Funeral services for Mr. Cason will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 2:00 o’clock from the University Blvd. Church of God in Waycross with Rev. Andy Peacock, Rev. Jerry Herndon, and Rev. Matt Cason officiating.

    Interment will be in the Offerman Cemetery with military honors.

    The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock.

    Active pallbearers will be Joshua Cason, Zachary Cason, Hayden Cason, Richie Daniels, Mark Johnson, and Harley Cason. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Hampton, Denny Davis, and Greg Hayes. Please meet at the church by 1:30 on Saturday afternoon.

    Mr. Robert Allen "Bob" Johnson, 62, passed away Tuesday evening (December 6, 2011) at his residence following a sudden illness.

    Born in Blackshear, GA on August 30, 1949, he had lived in Offerman for many years before moving to Waycross five and a half years ago. He was a disabled Army veteran having served during the Vietnam Conflict. While in the Army, Mr. Johnson received the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and the Silver Star. Mr. Johnson was a member of New Life Assembly of God and loved to garden, cook on his grill and see the world. He dearly loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him.

    Mr. Johnson was a son of the late Jake & Maggie Cason. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Loretta Gill Johnson.

    Survivors include his wife, Debbie Varnadore Johnson of Waycross; a daughter and son-in-law, Tina & Richard Daniels of Jesup; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark & Sheri Johnson of Waycross; two step-daughters and step sons-in-law, Tara & Andy Peacock of Waycross and Heather & Trevor Brown of Patterson; two step sons and a step daughter-in-law, Caleb & Holly Lancaster and Josh Lancaster all of Waycross; three sisters, Joy (Joe) Redfern and Bertha (Troy) Hickox all of Patterson and Mary Cumbie of Jacksonville; two brothers, J.R. Johnson and Monroe (Mary Ann) Johnson all of Patterson; 9 grandchildren, Dawson Daniels, Jacob Daniels, Katlyn Daniels, Meghan O'Steen, Tyler Johnson, Ashton Peacock, Bryce Peacock, Addie Brown and Abrielle Lancaster and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.

    Visitation:
    Visitation for Mr. Johnson will be held Thursday evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.

    Service:
    Funeral services for Mr. Johnson will be held Friday afternoon, December 9, 2011, at 2 pm at the New Life Assembly of God.

    Cemetery:

    Born in Blackshear, October 13, 1958, he had lived in Pendergrass, for several years before moving back to Patterson over 20 years ago. He had been a log truck driver for Pierce Timber for many years before becoming disabled. He was a simple man who had enjoyed riding his tractor and doing farm work, riding around the neighborhood with his cousin and best friend, Randy Gill, and fussing at his sisters. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone.

    He was a son of the late Simon Lavon and Norma Faye Thomas Cason. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Neal Cason and by a nephew, Nick Cason.

    Survivors include his two sons and daughters-in-law, Casey and Megan Cason, Talmo and James Michael and Jordan Cason, Pendergrass; two sisters, Brenda (Ellis) Denison, Offerman and Jennifer Cason, Patterson; two grandchildren, Wylie Lavon Cason and Kynleigh Grace Pennington and a grandchild on the way; his cousin and best friend, Randy Gill, Offerman and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

    Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at the funeral home.

    Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 25, from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.

    Interment will follow in the Offerman Cemetery.

    Born in Waycross, GA on June 25, 1968, she had lived in Pierce County all of her life. She was a 1986 graduate of Pierce County High School and was an LPN having worked in Alma at Twin Oaks Nursing Home. Etta attended Offerman Baptist Church.

    She was a daughter of the late Raymond Cecil Cason, Sr.

    Survivors include her two daughters, Kate Wainwright of Blackshear and Rachel Wainwright of Soperton; her mother, Mary Alice Westberry Cason of Baxley; her sister and brother-in-law, Patricia & Calvin Owens of Baxley; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Raymond & Kim Cason of Blackshear and Samuel Walter Cason of Offerman; a special friend, James Weathers of Hinesville; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

    Funeral services for Etta will be held Monday morning, May 14, 2018, at 11 o'clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.

    The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

    Memorialization will be by cremation.
