    She is survived by her son, Gregory and daughter-in-law, Delores Drew, Blair, NE; her daughter-in-law, Sheryl Drew, Wilksboro, NC; grandchildren, Laura Vinton, Carol Bush, David Drew, all Omaha, Ashley Wilkes, Korey Drew, Amanda Reese, all Charlotte, NC; 11 great grandchildren.

    She was born in Anselmo, NE, and married Phillip F. Drew in Anselmo on June 17, 1943. After graduating from the College of Saint Mary, she received a Masters Degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. She taught elementary school in Omaha until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of Saint Bernard, Saint James and most recently, St. Elizabeth Ann Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister and Pastoral Visitor as long as her health permitted. She was independent and active until days before her death.

    She donated her body to the Nebraska State Anatomical Society.

    Blanche Patricia Karnes
    Blanche Patricia Karnes, 87, of Boise passed away on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004 of natural causes at her home, with her family by her side.

    Blanche was born Feb. 20, 1917 in Anselmo, Neb., the daughter of Bernard and Donna McDermott. She was the youngest of four children. She graduated from Anselmo High School in 1935, then attended and graduated from Colorado Beauty College in 1936. She successfully operated her own beauty salons in Anselmo and Broken Bow. She married Willie Karnes of Anselmo on Nov. 29, 1939 in Anselmo. They moved to Idaho, where they lived for a time in Cascade, and then moved to Boise. They had three children, Bernard, Harry, and Donna. Blanche and Bill were married 64 years.

    To be home with her preschool children, she did survey work with Eastern based companies. When all the children were in school she became manager of S & H Green Stamps. She became a long term employee with the state, first with the Idaho State Police, followed by Idaho Health and Welfare. She retired in February 1981.

    Blanche was a tireless volunteer. She assisted in raising funds for St. Mary's Catholic school. She was active in the establishment of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a charter member of the parish and continued to be involved as a member and a volunteer in the parish office.

    She was very much a positive part of her children's lives. She was an industrious elementary school volunteer and a creative Brownie Scout and Cub Scout leader.

    In her retirement she participated in the community as a St. Alphonsus volunteer. She was recognized for her dependability, her commitment, and her great number of hours.

    Friends always had a special place in Blanche's heart and home. With friends, she and Bill loved to play cards and travel.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Irene; and a brother, Tom.

    Blanche is survived by her husband Willie; her sister, Clara Drew of Omaha; sons, Bernard Karnes of Mount Vernon, Wash. and Harry Karnes and wife Betty of Boise, Idaho; her daughter, Donna Baird and husband Bob of Boise, Idaho; her grandchildren, Colleen Johnson, Kelly Burke, Carla Karnes, Bill Karnes, Tricia Duffey, and Diane Henry; seven great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and by a sister-in-law, Pearl Stevens of Merna.

    We wish to send special thanks to St. Luke's Regional Medical Center and Life's Doors Hospice.

    The family suggests that memorials may be made in Blanche's name to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church or a favorite charity.

    Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 3 at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel. A vigil will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 4. The funeral will be at the church Friday, March 5 at 11 :00 a.m. Burial will be at Morris Hill Cemetery.

    WILKESBORO -- Mr. Drew, age 62, of Grace Drive, died Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday 11:00 AM, January 2, 2008 at St. John's Catholic Church with Father John Hanic officiating. Inurnment will be at Scenic Memorial Gardens.

    Mr. Drew was born May 10, 1945 in Astoria, Oregon to Philip and Clara McDermott Drew. He later moved to Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated with a BS in Business from Kansas State University, where he met the love of his life Sheryl Fraser. He was co-founder of Petro Express. Mr. Drew retired in 2003 to a beautiful lakeside cabin he designed for him and his wife in the mountains of NC. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Drew loved to joke and make others laugh, and never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

    He is survived by his wife, Sheryl Fraser Drew of the home; two daughters, Ashley Wilkes and husband, Todd of Tega Cay, SC, and Amanda Drew of Charlotte; two sons, Kevin Douglas Drew of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Korey Scot Drew and wife, Kerry of Weddington; one brother, Gregory Drew of Blair, Nebraska; and six grandchildren, Madison, Morgan, Parker, Emma, Jackson and William.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint John's Catholic Church, P.O. Box 128, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659.

    CONWAY | Kevin Douglas Drew, 40, died Friday, September 18, 2009 at Conway Medical Center.

    Mr. Drew was born in Omaha, Neb., a son, of Sheryl Drew, and the late Douglas Philip Drew.

    He attended St. Andrew Catholic Church and was a devoted and loving father.

    Surviving in addition to his mother of North Wilkesboro, N.C.; are his daughter, Emma Rose Drew, and Emma's mother, Bethany Mathieu, both of Florence; his special girl Sarah Audrey Hornberger of Conway; brother, Korey Drew and his wife, Kerry, of Matthews, N.C.; two sisters, Ashley Wilkes and her husband, Todd, of Tega Cay, and Amanda Reese and her husband, Kevin, of Mint Hill; and several nieces and nephews.

    A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2009 in St. Johns Catholic Church in North Wilkesboro, N.C.
