Revolutionary War hero. Fought under General Wayne.

Jonathan returned from the war to settle in Burke County, where he took a wife in 1784, Milly Pittman. Her parentage is undetermined though she was born Feb 3, 1766, according to the Charles Coleman Bible affidavit. Jonathan and Milly met with friends in 1788 to organize Bark Camp Church, in lower Burke County, near the Emanuel County line, just north of Midville. There were twenty-nine charter members.

This 1823 membership list of Bark Camp Baptist Church in Burke Co GA appeared in Georgia Genealogical Magazine in 1981. Mrs. Robert L. Green was submitter. Elisha was a man of many talents - man of the cloth, farmer, carpenter, and craftsman. His first wife died in 1828 after bearing ten children. At any time, being left with ten children is a tremendous burden - in those early frontier days it was a terrible crisis. Farming left no time for baby-sitting, even if older children are around to help. In 1829, me married Mary Lucretia, who had at least three children by her first marriage.

Their relationship appears to have been a stormy one. Elisha repeatedly puts notices in newspapers that he will no longer honor any debts incurred by her as she has left his bed and board, but then they get back together, and in at least one case, have another child. Mary Lucretia appears to have been quite outspoken, not quite the norm of the time.

Died at the residence of his son, in Emanuel County, Ga., on the 30th October, 1860, Rev. Elisha Coleman in the 72nd year of his age.

He was born in Burke County and united himself to the Baptist Church at Bark Camp in Dec. 1832, remained a consistent member (unreadable text), moved to Emanuel County, and joined Old Canoochee Church, and was set apart to the ministry in June 1841, and some few years afterwards constituted and built Haw Hamoc (Hawhammock) Church, and remained as the watch-care of the same until his death. The church has lost her brightest light, and the county one of its best citizens, ever ready to lend the helping hand to the needy and distressed. His theme was to hear and expound the Scriptures.

Be it therefore resolved by the church in conference, that his obituary be spread over the minutes of the conference, and sent to the Christian Index with the request to publish the same, and family be presentd with a copy of the same.

William was a farmer in the area of the present Lamb’s Bridge Road, which winds eastward toward Candler County Line from Swainsboro, Georgia As found in the history of Antioch Church, and honored by a marker in front of the church, he gave the land on which the church was built and participated in its construction...

When the Civil War started, William and Sarah Coleman had a large family to support. However, when the war seriously threatened Georgia in 1864 William and his son, James Elzie, was enlisted on 25 May 1864 (by William’s brother, Alfred) in Company E, 1st Batt’n Georgia Reserves, later to be called Symon’s Regt. Both William and James were captured when Fort McAlliste3r was besieged and captured by Sherman’s forces...

William returned from a Northern prison and resumed life in Emanuel County.

Alfred and his brother, James Emmett, married sisters. And they lived near each other all their lives, near the settlement of Canoochee, Georgia, about ten miles northeast of Swainsboro. Alfred was a farmer. On November 12, 1862 Alfred purchased a 579 acre tract of land left by Elisha for his Estate. This land
adjoined the land of James Herrington Edenfield, who was married to Alfred’s sister, Lucretia.

When the Civil War began, Alfred with many of his neighbors entered service in the local militia, whose members were, in a short time, sent into other Confederate units. Alfred was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant on April 27, 1861 in the 59th Georgia Militia District.

DEATH YESTERDAY OF R.J. EDENFIELD

Prominent Citizen and Member of Police Commission Passes Away Quietly Here After Long Illness

Richard J. Edenfield, one of Augusta's most prominent citizens, a member of the Civil Service Commission, and proprietor of the Dreamland Theatre, died shortly after 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his residence, 816 Fifteenth Street. Mr. Edenfield had been in ill health for some time. Only a day before his death he had suffered a relapse, but a slight improvement was shown in his condition and hopes were held out for his recovery at that time. All that medical skill could offer was done for him but to no avail and at 5:05 o'clock yesterday afternoon with his family at his bedside, he passed quietly away.

Mr. Edenfield was 69 years old and had been a resident of Augusta for thirty-one years, coming to Augusta from Waynesboro where he was in the oil mill business. He was born in Swainsboro, GA.

As soon as he came to Augusta he went into the electrical business and was a pioneer in that business here, having been one of the first in Augusta to enter the electrical field on a large scale as a manufacturer of electrical supplies. The name of Moore and Edenfield, electrical manufacturers, was known throughout this section of the country. He later went out of this business to enter the motion picture field and became the proprietor of the Dreamland Theatre, which since its opening has been one of the most successful enterprises in Augusta.

For the past sixteen years, Mrs. Edenfield had been a member of the police commission. He was a member of the police commission seven years before the present civil service commission was established. Among the police and firemen he was affectionately known as "Boss" Edenfield. The welfare of the men on the two departments was always foremost in his mind and he worked hard and tirelessly to build up the departments and make conditions better for its members.

Mr. Edenfield will be greatly missed by the members of the two departments who could always count upon his sympathy whenever they were in trouble.

As a member of the commission which rules the police and fire department, Mr. Edenfield was a firm believer in discipline and would not countenance for a moment any insubordination by members of the department officers, while on the other hand, he would not hastily judge a man accused of this until a fair and impartial trial had been given him. He was quick to sympathize with any of the members who had troubles and was their personal adviser at all times. He will, for these sterling qualities, be greatly missed by the men who served under him and who knew and respected him so much.

The funeral will be held from the residence Sunday afternoon, the time to be announced later.

He is survived by his wife Mrs. Lulu A. Edenfield; one son, Homer E. Edenfield; two sisters, Mrs. Andrew L. Brown and Mrs. Ida Deal, of Swainsboro; one brother E.H. Edenfield of Midville, Ga.

BURIAL YESTERDAY OF RICHARD J. EDENFIELD
Beloved Public Official Laid to Rest at Westover.

The funeral of Richard J. Edenfield, civil service commissioner, who died last Friday, was held from the residence, 816 Fifteenth Street, yesterday afternoon. The funeral was largely attended. Hundreds of beautiful floral designs hid the casket from view. The floral tributes spoke of the high esteem in which Mr. Edenfield was held.

Rev. Charles H. Kopp, who officiated at the service, spoke highly of Mr. Edenfield and of the good he had accomplished for the city of Augusta during his life. The most touching scene was when the large delegation from the fire and police departments filed past the open casket with bared heads and looked for the last time on their late commissioner who is life meant so much to them. Here and there could be seen a trickling tear coursing down the seamed faces of the guardians of the law and the firefighters.

The interment was held in the Westover Cemetery where hundreds stood with bared heads to pay their last tribute to their friend.

KIRKLAND - Mr. George O'Neil Kirkland, 68, of Glen St. Mary, died Monday morning after a
lengthy illness.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Glen St. Mary and a member of the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Macclenny Ward, and for 14 years he served as the presiding
Elder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon) in Baker County. He was one of
16 children of the late George C. and Nettie C. Kirkland.

A native of Clinch County, GA,
he moved to Glen St.Mary in 1903. He was a retired farmer and had served 16 years as a member of
the Board of County Commissioners for Baker County.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Beatrice
Hodges Kirkland; 2 daughters, Mrs. Lorraine K. Davis, and Mrs. Karen Elaine (Kay) Hedge; 2 sons,
Mr. Granvel S. Kirkland, and Mr. Ronnie O'Neil Kirkland, all of Glen St.Mary; a sister, Mrs. Wilma
Hamilton, of Lakeland, FL; 2 brothers, Mr. Wilford W. Kirkland, of Logan, Utah, and
Mr. Ray Kirkland, of Arco, Idaho; 2 foster children, Mrs. Linda Johns Wilkinson, and Bonnie
Johns; 13 grand?children and 4 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Kirkland will be held in
the Chapel of the Macclenny Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon)
Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Bishopric officiating.

Casketbearers will be David Davis, Keith Davis,
George Fledge, Emory Kirkland, Wilbur Kirkland, George Knabb, Al McGlashin, Jimmy Rowe, and
Brent Whitney. Due to his many close personal friends honorary pallbearers for Mr. Kirkland will

himself so designated.

Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, north of Macclenny.

Louise Milton Nielson

Louise M. Nielson, 97, passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, October 11, 2006. She was born in Lake City, Florida on July 9, 1909 to Augustus and Laura Eveline Waldron Milton. She attended schools in Florida and moved to Arizona to marry George Edward Nielson in 1929. Shortly after her marriage, they moved to White River Indian Reservation to work for the Indian Services. She was the mother of three children and grandmother to twelve grandchildren. She was known for her love of animals, her genealogy work, and her skills in painting and sewing.

After her husband died in 1973, Louise lived between Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah with family members. She loved to meet new people and tell stories of her history and the information she discovered in her genealogy work. Louise was a hard worker and taught everyone she met about the value of hard work. She would always say that "Life was her education", stressing the importance of hard work in her life.

She is survived by a son, Milton Nielson, of Arizona; her caretakers, Melvin Kessinger (son-in-law); Barbara Kessinger (Step daughter-in-law); and Eliza Kessinger, granddaughter; a son in law, Jay Bloomfield, New Mexico; three sisters, Marguarite Marton; Jackie Winton; and Marie Wheeler, all of Florida, 10 grand sons, 2 granddaughters, many great- grandchildren, and a few great- great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her daughters, Mary Bloomfield, New Mexico; and Ellouise Kessinger, Utah.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 16, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork. Family and friends may call on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m., or on Monday morning from 8:45 - 9:45 prior to services at the mortuary. Interment will be in Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, Phoenix, Arizona.

Mrs. Margurette Milton Marton, 89, of Lake City, passed away peacefully Monday morning at her residence surrounded by her family. A lifelong resident of Columbia County, Mrs. Marton was the daughter of the late Gus W. & Laura Waldron Milton. Mrs. Marton was educated in the Columbia County School system and was a member of the 1938 graduating class of Columbia High School. Mrs. Marton owned and operated Margurette’s Beauty Shop for over forty years. Following her retirement she volunteered at the Lake City Medical Center for many years. Mrs. Marton and her husband spent many fun filled years square dancing as members of the Lake City Squares and serving as chaperones at the Lake City Teen Town. She was a member of the Seniors United, the Epsilon Phi Sorority and was an active member of the church Relief Society until her ill health. Mrs. Marton was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Lake City First Ward. In her spare time Mrs. Marton enjoyed tending to her flower garden, crocheting, and was a talented seamstress. Mrs. Marton was preceded in death in November of 2006 by her beloved husband of sixty-nine years, Alex Marton.

Mrs. Marton is survived by two sons, Gerald A. Marton (Lydia), Fort Worth, Texas; and Harry P. Marton of Stillwater, Oklahoma; two sisters, Marie Wheeler of Lake City and Jackie Criswell ("Wink") of Orange Park, Florida; her eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Her loving and devoted "G-Babies" and caregivers, Joseph
"Jo-Jo" Parrish, Summer Parrish and Debra Parrish Dees, numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and adored dog “Lillie” also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Marton will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 9, 2007, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (located on Old Country Club Road) with Bishop Mark Duren presiding. Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 Thursday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Haven Hospice of the Suwannee Valley, 6037 U.S. Highway 90 West, Lake City, Columbia, Florida 32055.

Mrs. Marie Milton Wheeler, 89, died Friday morning, July 1, 2016 at the Suwannee Valley Care Center (Haven Hospice) in Lake City, following an extended illness.

She was the daughter of the late Gus W. and Laura Evelyn Waldron Milton. She was a lifelong resident of Lake City and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Price Creek Ward. She had been a visiting teacher, for many years with the Relief Society. In 1989 she retired from Columbia Metal Products after thirty-five years, she volunteered for CARC for sixteen years and then at the Goodwill until her ill health. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Wheeler.

She is survived by one son Randy Bruce Henderson (Brenda) Lake City, FL; two daughters Judy Hillhouse (Richard) White Springs, FL; Lauralyn Regar, Lake City, FL; one sister Jackie (Wink) Criswell Orange Park, FL. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren also survive.

Graveside funeral services were conducted on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 5:00 P.M. in Memorial Cemetery with Bishop Don Little officiating assisted by her nephew Bro. Milton Parrish.

Jacqueline "Jackie" (Milton) Criswell

Mrs. Jacqueline "Jackie" Milton Criswell, 87, of Orange Park, Florida, passed away early Saturday morning, October 1, 2016, in the Haven Hospice of Orange Park following a brief illness.

A native of Columbia County, Florida, Mrs. Criswell was the daughter of the late Gus W. and Laura Waldron Milton. She was a member of the 1947 graduating class of Columbia High School and married Winton Criswell later that same year. Mrs. Criswell had been a resident of Orange Park since 1970 having moved there from Palatka, Florida.

Mrs. Criswell had worked in the banking industry for many years. She began her banking career at what was then the First National and State Exchange Banks in Lake City. Then with The First Union Bank of Palatka and went on to work for First Union in Orange Park prior to retiring from Wacovia National Bank.

In her spare time she enjoyed Geneology work, Temple Work and was very active in the Ward Relief Society of her church. Her favorite time was the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Orange Park Second Ward.

Mrs. Criswell is survived by her husband of sixty-nine years, "Coach" Winton E. "Wink" Criswell; her daughter, Laura Diane Criswell Take of Jacksonville, Florida; two sons, David Winton Criswell of Palatka and Ray Alan Criswell of Jacksonville, Florida. Seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Criswell will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 6, 2016, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Orange Park Ward (located at the corner of Blanding Blvd. and Loch Rane Blvd.) in Orange Park with Bishop David Jolley officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 P.M. that afternoon in Memorial Cemetery(which is located at Lake Jeffery Hwy., Lake City, FL).

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Following the interment service in Lake City the family will hold a reception for friends at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (located on Old Country Club Road) in Lake City, Florida.

Serving as pallbearers will be her nephews, Thomas Milton Parrish, Sr., Dale Parrish and Frederick Milton and her great-nephews, Thomas Milton Parrish, Jr., Jeffery Parrish and Joseph Parrish.

Thelma was born October 2, 1919 in Live Oak, Florida . She graduated from Suwannee County High School in 1938. She lived in Jacksonville most of her adult life in the Murray Hill section of town. She married Joseph Floyd Allen on August 16th, 1947. They were married for 32 years until his death in 1979.

Thelma is survived by 2 sons, Joel Henry Allen (Michaele) Ronald Floyd Allen (Jeannie) 2 daughters, Ramona Annette Hewiett (James) Rhonda Faye Rumsey (Donald) as well as 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grand- children.

Thelma was a beloved mother and homemaker. She was a great cook and enjoyed working in her flower gardens, especially her Day-Lilies. She was a member of Jones Road Baptist.

The family will be receiving visitors at the Town and Country Funeral Home on the corner of Normandy Boulevard and Memorial Park Road (7242 Normandy Boulevard) Thursday 6-8p.m.

Mr. Willie Milton, age 89, of Lake City, Florida died Saturday, March 31, at the Health Center of Lake City following a long illness.

He was born in the Needmore Community of Columbia County and resided in Lake City all of his life. He worked as a foreman with Newton Turpentine Company of Lake City for over 20 years and also owned and operated Milton's T.V. Repair Service of Lake City for over 20 years until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and fellowshio wit his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert M. and Ellen Kato Milton, his wife Bertha Mae Spikes Milton and his step-mother Francis Milton.

He is survived by four daughters, Pat Raulerson, Janis Milton, Judi (Greg) Bedenbaugh and Joyce (David) Spradley all of Lake City, Fla.: One son Ronnie (Margarette) Milton of May, Fla.: One brother Leo (Celesta) Milton of Lake City, Fla.: Twelve grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M., Tuesday, April 3, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Mr. Hal Thomas of Mayo, Fla. officiating. Leo Milton

Mr. Leo Milton, 87, of Lake City, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning July 6, 2014 at the Suwannee Valley Haven Hospice surrounded by his family after an extended illness. He was born on September 28, 1926 in Columbia County to the late Robert Mallory Milton and Frances Melton Milton. He grew up and lived all of his life in Columbia County and owned and operated several businesses; He owned the Gulf Station and Sinclair Stations in Lake City as well as Milton Appliance. When he was younger he loved to play fast pitch softball; he loved to fish and hunt. He also loved to be in his garden and farmed some as well. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church and was a Navy World War II veteran; he also was a member of the American Legion.

He is preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years: Celesta Johns Milton of Lake City; two sons: Robert L. Milton (Judi Hebert) of Gainesville and Jay W. Milton (Debbie) of Lake City; daughter: Terri M. Milton (Bruce Weeks) of Lake City; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Milton will be conducted on Wednesday July 9, 2014 at 11 A.M. in the Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Eddie Blalock officiating. Interment will follow.

Kirkland- Myra E. Kirkland, age 85, of Lake City, Florida passed away April 13, 2011. She was born in Macclenny, FL to the late Albert Kirkland and Eula Thomas Kirkland on March 31, 1926.

Myra was a native of Macclenny and a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a graduate of Baker County High School and the University of Florida. She worked as a teacher in the public schools for 15 years. Myra loved reading, arranging flowers and traveling.

She was predeceased by her siblings: Wilbur Kirkland, Emery Kirkland, Anna Marguerite Waters & Clarice McGregor.

KLINGENSMITH There is a new star in the heavens and it belongs to Lucille Rowe Klingensmith who departed this life on April 14, 2010. She was born June 8, 1922 in Macclenny, FL to John and Minnie Rowe. Lucille was the epitome of a southern lady known for her beautiful shock of white hair. She loved to cook, play bridge, dance, her antiques and hosting family gatherings. Her smile could light up a room and her kindness and strength were overwhelming. We have truly lost a beautiful lady who will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Jimmie, and Harry, husbands John Webb and Sam Klingensmith and her beloved Harold Finley. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Linda Jones of Jacksonville and Nancy Snethen (Joe) of N. Myrtle Beach, SC, 5 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, sister, Marjorie Sharp, Macclenny and brother Cecil Rowe of Nashville, TN and many friends and relatives to include her devoted friend, Barbara Dacundo.

He was born in Macclenny, Florida on December 27, 1929 to the late John W. Rowe and Minnie Belle Rowe. Mr. Rowe was life long resident of Baker County and a member of First Baptist Church of Macclenny. He retired from Gulf Life Insurance Company in 1987 and served in the United States Navy from 1948-1952. He enjoyed golfing, camping, and playing the harmonica.

Family members include his wife of 52 years Bobbie Sue Rowe; children: Patricia D. Bennett of Macclenny, FL, and Julie R. Lee of Albany, GA; brother Cecil B. Rowe of Nashville, TN; sisters: Marjorie Sharp of Daytona Beach, FL and Lucille Klingensmith of Jacksonville, FL; and three grandchildren: Justin Bennett, Brooklyn Bennett and Chelsea Lee.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ferreira Chapel with Pastor Sam Kitching officiating.

George Wilford Kirkland

George Wilford Kirkland, 82 of Centerville, UT., passed away February 7, 2013 after an extended illness. He was born on November 16, 1930.

The son of Wilford W. and Thelma Whitby Kirkland. George spent his happy childhood in Carey, Idaho. The family later moved to Logan, UT. He served an LDS mission in the Southern States Mission and earned a degree from Utah State University. George served in the U.S. Army in Salzberg, Austria from 1953 to 1955.

He married Theda Crook Kirkland. They were married in the Logan LDS temple, Dec. 21, 1956. They raised four sons and one daughter in Centerville, Utah. George started his career in 1957 teaching drafting at Viewmont High School. He had a great passion for teaching youth. He served in many areas of the LDS church. His favorites being a devoted home teacher, ward clerk, temple worker in the Bountiful LDS temple and as a missionary in the membership records department. George had a very inquisitive mind and enjoyed various hobbies and talents. Many of his fondest memories were spent teaching his children to work and play on the family ranch in Star Valley, Wyoming. For the past several winters George and Theda have enjoyed their winters in St. George, Utah.

George is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Linda Shipley and Pearl Carstensen, and his son Layne Kirkland.

He is survived by his wife, Theda C. Kirkland and his children Gregory(Janet) Kirkland, Hillsboro, Or., Steven(Carol) Kirkland, of West Jordan, UT., Kristine Kirkland (Joseph Kelly) of Spanish Fork, UT., Dale (Anne) Kirkland of West Bountiful, UT. and daughter-in-law Kristine N. Kirkland of West Valley, UT. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. We are blessed to have had him in our lives and look forward to being reunited with him again someday.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at the LDS church, 610 No. Rowland Way, Centerville, UT.

Friends and family may visit Monday between 6 and 8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main Bountiful, UT. or Tuesday, 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church.

Interment will be at the Centerville City Cemetery.

Pearl Ruth Carstensen, known to many of us as Toot, was born on August 4th 1932 in Carey Idaho. She was the second of four children. Toot loved to tell stories of her childhood. Many of the stories involved her older brother George and the trouble that the two of them would get into.

Pearl's family moved to Logan Utah when she was a teenager. Pearl was attending Utah State University when she met a fellow student, Bob Carstensen. After a short courtship, they were married on March 5th 1950 and celebrated their 60th anniversary March 2010. Bob and Pearl were sealed for eternity on May 5th 1967.
Bob and Pearl have four children, Sherri, Robin, Ron, and John and lived in several cities throughout the northwest including Logan, Caldwell, Walla Walla, Yakima, Preston, Boise, and Olympia. Their biggest adventure was their move to Anchorage Alaska where they made many long lasting friends. In 1994 they moved back to Boise which they have always considered home.

Pearl was a stay at home Mom who loved to sew and make crafts. She was a beautiful seamstress and often provided her daughters with their drill team costumes and gorgeous formals for their high school dances. When all the kids entered school, Pearl went to work as an Office Manager for Davis Meat Packing Plant.

In the late 60s, Bob and Pearl built a cabin on their lot in Cascade on West Mountain. This was Pearl's favorite spot in the world. She spent many hours with her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends there. She was always taking walks and would have all the kids in tow looking for frogs, picking wild flowers, carving their names in trees, singing her silly songs and other various activities. Although she suffered from painful arthritis for over 30 years, she did not let it slow her down.

So, you might wonder how she came to be known as Toot. Sherri had returned home from Hawaii shortly before Pearl's first grandson Shane was born. Sherri had brought her a mug that said Tua Tua (pronounced To To) which is Hawaiin for grandmother. She loved that name and decided that she would become Tua Tua to her grandkids. I don't think she ever thought that we would all shorten it to Toot but she loved that too. In fact, during her recent stay at Treasure Valley Life Care, she insisted that the staff call her Toot.

Pearl had a great love for her church and her faith. Toot loved her family and has been an outstanding role model to many of us on strength of character and how to be a good and understanding wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Pearl has made an everlasting impression on those of us who knew her.

We will miss her terribly but she will forever remain in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov 26, at 10:00 am at the LDS church located at 190 S. Locust Grove, Meridian, Idaho. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Private committal services by Bowman Funeral Parlor of Garden City.

Lorraine K. Davis, 87, of Macclenny died on Sunday, November 19, 2017, following an extended illness. Mrs. Davis was born in Glen St. Mary on November 12, 1930 to the late George O’Neil Kirkland and Beatrice Hodges Kirkland. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Walter Davis Jr., who she married on July 4, 1948.

Mrs. Davis was the eldest of four children and is survived by her brothers Gravel S. (Margaret) Kirkland and Ronnie O. (Janette) Kirkland and sister Kay Hedge (Otto) Dickman; children Jeannie (George) Knabb, David (Robin) Davis, Keith (Tammie) Davis, Lisa (Brent) Whitney and Kristi (Mark) Vorwaller; 17 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Richard "Dick" Edenfield, 89, entered into rest on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at the residence of his daughter, in Rockville, MD.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 3:30 PM in Platt's Crawford Avenue Chapel with the Rev. Sherrell Dunn officiating. Interment will be private, at Westover Memorial Park.

Mr. Edenfield was a life-long resident of Augusta, Georgia. Richard was a veteran of World War II, serving in the army overseas for the entire conflict. Upon returning home, he opened his own business Edenfield Electric Company in Augusta. He subsequently went to work for the City of Augusta as Chief Electrical Inspector, later becoming Chief of Inspectors for the Department of Inspectors, a position which he held approximately 32 years. After retiring, he continued to work as a consultant on design and installation of street lighting and other special projects for the City for another 10 years. Richard was an active member of Underwriters Laboratories for 30 years, serving as a voting member of ULL and a distinguished member of the Electrical Council. He also belonged to the International Association of Electrical Inspectors for 50 years, serving as President of the Southern Section. Richard was a member of Curtis Baptist Church for many years and also a member of Webb Masonic Lodge #166 for 45 years. He served on numerous councils and boards throughout his lifetime. Richard was a kind outgoing individual who never met a stranger. He loved people, and his many friends will miss him.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Geraldine Wood Edenfield and his parents Homer and Essie Edenfield.

Survivors include his two daughters, Carole Lhuillier and her husband Bob of Atlanta, Georgia and Joyce Maguire and her husband John of Rockville, Maryland, and a son, Richard Edenfield, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia. His grandchildren include Drew Carlyle, Scott Carlyle, Brian Maguire, Jenna Wright, Melissa Cheatham and Mark Edenfield and two great- granddaughters.

Frank Hines
(June 20, 1926 - February 19, 2013)

Mr. Frank King Hines went to be with Our Lord on February 19th, at Haven Hospice in Lake City. A life long Columbia County Floridian, Frank was born June 20, 1926. One of ten children, he was the oldest son of Clarence and Grace King Hines. Frank was a Navy veteran of World War II, where he served in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he lived in Branford for a few years farming for the Griffin brothers, before returning to Lake City working at Guerdon Industries and Homes of Merit until his retirement. Always a good hearted, joyful and loving man, Frank married Nina Fountain Perkins, a young widow with two children who he loved and raised as his own. He and Nina farmed corn, tobacco, peanuts and hogs until age and health caught up with him. During their almost fifty-three years of marriage, they enjoyed travelling all over the southeastern USA, especially the mountains, spending many happy days at their own cabin in Blairsville, GA. Frank was of the Baptist faith and faithfully attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church for over 50 years.

Frank is survived by his wife, Nina Hines of the home, son Cy Perkins (Mary Lou) of Lake City, daughter Patty Coxe (Bob) of Woodstock, GA, son Frank Ray Hines (Terri) of Lake City, sister Mary Lane (Ernest) of Lake City, and brothers Joe Hines (Fan) of Palatka, and Wayne Hines (Candace) of Lake City along with numerous nieces and nephews. Three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Hines will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, February 22, 2013 in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Rev. Fritz Fountain officiating. Interment with Military Honors will immediately follow. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 Thursday evening in the Chapel of the funeral home. While flowers are welcome if you so choose the family requests that donations be made to the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Building Fund, 1205 S.W. Mt. Carmel Ave., Lake City, FL 32024 or to the Mt. Carmel Cemetery Fund, 1630 S.W. Mount Carmel Ave., Lake City, FL 32024.

Willie Joe Hines (Joe), 81, of Palatka, passed from this life, on July 14, at Putnam Community Hospital.

Preceded in death by parents: Grace King Hines and Clarence Hines of Lake City, and siblings: Evelyn Hines Douberley, Frank Hines, Leon Hines, Ralph Hines, Carlton Hines, Lois Hines Cicarrelo and Helen Hines Hogan.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Fan Douberley Hines, son, Kyle Hines (Jenny) and daughter Stephanie Hines, both of Palatka; brother, Wayne Hines (Candace) of Lake City, and sister, Mary Hines Lane, also of Lake City.

He graduated Columbia High School (Lake City) in 1957. He attended Florida Christian College, where he majored in athletics, playing football, basketball, baseball and tennis. He was especially proud to be a member of the NEC High School Championship team of 1954. His dream was to become a sports coach; particularly football.

He served in the Army National Guard, in supply and logistics, from 1955 to 1964; honorably discharged as a Sargeant (E5). During his service, he qualified as a sharpshooter and earned several marksmanship medals.

While living in Lake City, he was a member of the Quarterback Club and the Junior Chamber of Commerce.

The family moved to Palatka in 1975, when he was the manager of Orange State Pipe and Supply. He worked briefly at St. Johns Chevrolet, and retired from Georgia Pacific in 1996.

He was a member of the Palatka Lion's Club, Toastmasters Club and was president of Kelley Smith Elementary School's PTO for several years.

Dedicated member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Joe worked, alongside a small group of families, to establish and build the church, located on Highway 19 South. Joe served a number of years on the church council, and on the board of Lutheran Social Services. Joe was a delegate, representing Florida, at the merger of the ALC and the LCA (as well as the AELC-the former Missouri Synod "Seminex" group) held in New York City on 1988.

To say Joe was an avid (UF) Gator fan is a gross understatement! He was a member of the Palatka Gator Club and was a football season ticket holder for many years. Joe enjoyed attending all athletic events, from High School to NFL.

Visitation is planned for Thursday, July 18, from 6pm to 8pm at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka. Graveside service is planned for 10am Friday, July 19, at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Lake City.

Lois Crews Ciccarello, 68, a resident of Lake City, Florida passed away March 8, 2010 at the Suwannee Valley Care Center, Lake City, Fl.

Mrs. Cicarello was a lifelong resident of Lake City, Florida and is the daughter of the late Clarence and Grace King Hines. She attended the Columbia Senior Services and was a member of the Watertown Congregational United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter: Wendy (Kenny) Louden, Lake City, Fl. and her son: Casey (Vicki) Crews, Lake City, Fl. One sister: Mary Lane, Lake City, Fl. Four Brothers: Joe Hines, Palatka, Fl., Frank Hines, Lake City, Fl., Wayne Hines, Lake City, Fl. and Ralph Hines, Atlanta, Ga. Three Grandchildren, James Louden, Mackenzie Crews and Makala Crews. One great grandchild, Ryan Louden.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ciccarello will be conducted Wednesday March 10, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Ogburn, officiating. Barney Alford

Mr. Barney Alford, 91, of Lake City, died early Thursday morning, February 15, 2007, in the Lake City Medical Center following a brief illness. A native and lifelong resident of Columbia County, Mr. Alford was the son of the late Francis & Alice Hines Alford. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Africa and Europe during W.W. II. Mr. Alford retired from the V.A. Medical Center in Lake City after seventeen years of service as a maintenance technician. In his spare time he enjoyed doing yard work. Mr. Alford was a member of the V.F.W. and the Huntsville Baptist Church. Mr. Alford was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Skinner Alford.

Mr. Alford is survived by two daughters, Bonita Wheeler (Billy) and Betty Glover (Doyle); and three sons, Velton Alford (Charlene); Neal Alford (Diane) all of Lake City and Edward Alford of Pomona Park, Florida. 22 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren also survive. Numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Alford will be conducted Monday, February 19, 2007 in the Chapel of Dees-Parrish Family Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Steele officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery (located on 441 North of Lake City). The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 5:00P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

Cora Lee Albritton of Lake City died early Sunday morning in the Palm Gardens Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was 77. Mrs. Lee was a life-long resident of Columbia County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Mrs Lee was preceded in death by her daughter, Joanne Williams.

She is survived by her husband Cozzie Albritton; a son, Jimmy Albritton of Lake Butler; two daughters Shirley Sutton and Norma Jean Darley both of Lake City; a sister Beth Mehrshon of Lake City; two brothers Barney Alford of Lake City and Bill Alford of Jasper, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
