- DILLON - Services for Elsie Pelt Woodle will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Catfish Creek Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery directed by Cooper Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home and other times at J.D. Woodle Jr.' s home, 205 Mt. Calvary Road.
Mrs. Woodle, 85, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2002 in Honorage Nursing Home in Florence. Born February 5, 1917 in Dillon County, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Alice Pelt. She was a lifetime member of Catfish Creek Baptist Church where she served as Adult Ladies Sunday School teacher for many years. She had retired from Dillon District 2 Schools, serving as manager of Food Services at East Elementary and J.V. Martin Jr. High Schools, and was manager of the Mill Outlet Fabric Store and a farmer. Mrs. Woodle was the widow of the late Jasper D. Woodle Sr.
Surviving are her sons, J.D. Woodle Jr. and his wife, Gail, of Dillon and Malcolm L. Woodle and his wife, Emily, of Dillon; daughter, Ann W. Cassidy and her husband, Dr. Pete Cassidy, of Cayce; grandchildren, Charles and Carl Woodle of Lamar, Joel Woodle of Darlington, Malcolm Woodle Jr. of Latta, Jennifer W. Lupo of Latta, Art Cassidy of Powder Springs, Ga., Greg Cassidy of Cayce; great-grandchildren, Heather, Addison, Kirsten and Brandon Cassidy, D.J. and Catrina Woodle, Eric Chavis; sisters, Essie Murray, Fannie Braswell and Mary F. Wike of Charlotte. She was preceded in death by her brothers, John Willie, Carl, Hardy, Tracy and Lafon Pelt.
