    • Mrs. Lucy A. Caison, 83 March 03, 2010

      ROSEBORO

Mrs. Lucy Ann Green Caison, age 83, went home to be with her Lord on March 3, 2010.

She has touched many lives with her graciousness, ability to decorate, cater and host parties and her committee work with her church and several organizations. She was formerly a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher and leader in Baptist Training Union.

Lucy married Daniel Eugene Caison, Jr. in November 1955 and then became a member of Roseboro First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She has served her church faithfully and with loyalty and dedication for over 50 years. Lucy was Chair of the Hospitality committee for many years.

She was Past Matron of Roseboro Chapter # 229, Order of the Eastern Star, with 50 years of membership. She was secretary for numerous years, also a member and past President of the Roseboro Woman’s Club, and was chosen Woman of the Year in 1965.

She retired from Tart and West Drug Store with 32 years of service having previously worked with D.E. Caison & Son Dry Goods and also Davis/Melvin Pharmacy for about 10 years.

Mrs. Caison was a “people person” and enjoyed seeing and talking with customers and friends near and far throughout the many years she worked. She will be sorely missed by members of Roseboro First Baptist Church for her leadership and decorations, especially Fellowship Hall. She was a friend to all.

Mrs. Caison is survived by: a loving son, Dan Caison, III and wife, Robin of Belmont; a step-grandson, William Crumpler of Clinton; three sisters, Doris West of Salemburg, Katherine Owens and Eloise Green of Roseboro. She is preceded in death by: her parents, Bert and Portia Green, five brothers, Purdie, Claude, Joe Thomas, Roy Lee and Allen; and two sisters, Gertrude Odum and Geneva Sessoms.

Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 6 until 8 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Roseboro First Baptist Church at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Hampton Faircloth and Rev. Roger White officiating. Burial will follow in Roseboro Cemetery.

Arrangements by Butler Funeral Home, 401 W. Roseboro Street, Roseboro.
