ELLABELL - Mr. Harvey Lee Loyd, 84, passed away on Feb. 4 at Hospice of Savannah.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during the Korean War with the 24th Div., 19th Regiment, 1st Battalion, Co. B. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with Solomon's Lodge No. 1, F & AM, Scottish Rite, Bethlehem Chapter #269, Order of Eastern Star, and the Holy Church of God at Black Creek. He retired as a Journeyman Ironworker with over 40 years of service with Local 709 Savannah.
Mr. Loyd enjoyed fishing, hunting, and most of all, church and his family.
Mr. Loyd is preceded in death by his parents Dan J. Loyd and Ella Mae Lester; brothers Pete Loyd, Paul Loyd, Phillip Loyd and Ray Loyd; sisters Ivy Goodman and Joyce Parsons.
Survivors include his loving wife Janice R. Loyd; son Jimmie Lee Loyd of Alpharetta; stepsons John Jarrell of Ellabell, Danny Clyde Loyd of Arkansas and Benny R. Woods, Jr. of Lucedale, Miss.; step-daughter Kimberley K. Gillespie of Ellabell; brothers Earl Loyd of California and John Albert Loyd of Michigan; sisters Mary Murphy of Missouri and Marjorie Baber of Florida; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Feb. 8 at the Flanders Morrison Funeral Home.
His funeral service was held Feb.9. at the funeral home with the Rev. Stan Tyson officiating.
Burial followed at Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins, Ga.
