    Deceased Name: Loy Dean Bragg

BRAGG Many set out to make a mark on the world, but one who did was Loy Dean Bragg, 84, who passed away Saturday, May 17, 2008. A man of integrity who always tried to do the right thing, he taught his children and grandchildren to live with honor. Quick witted, "Dean" was a man with a smart sense of humor who could instantly fill a room with laughter. Dean, as he was known to friends, was the President of Bragg Aviation Electronics, Inc., which he founded in 1957 and co-owned with his son Thomas Bragg. He was recently honored as the oldest tenant at Craig Airport by the Jacksonville Port Authority, where the business has resided for decades.

A World War II veteran, Dean served in the US Navy from 1940 until his discharge in 1945. A proud member of the crew of the U.S.S. Louisville, he was part of the fleet that rushed to Pearl Harbor following the attack by the Japanese in 1941.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Eleanor Kennedy Bragg, his children Thomas G. Bragg, Phyllis C. Aldrich, Sandie H. Loach, Indie B. Bollman, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and his beloved Chihuahua "Chico". To those close to him he was a loyal and trusted friend and talented artist; to customers, a man who still did business on a handshake. To his wife, a devoted and loving husband. To his children, he was and will always simply be "Daddy," who filled all our lives with music, laughter, the gift of spirit, and a strong will.

Services for Dean Bragg will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 11:00 am, at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Road, Jacksonville, (904-641-9755).

Interment will follow in Chapel Hills Memory Gardens, with a brief reception in the funeral home thereafter.

The family respectfully requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1430 Prudential Dr., Jacksonville, FL 32207 in the name of Loy Dean Bragg.
