    Mrs. Lola Rhymer Norris, 92, of Lake City, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday afternoon August 20, 2010, in the Haven Hospice of the Suwannee Valley. Mrs. Norris was a lifelong resident of Columbia County. She was born at Benton, a turpentine settlement in the Northern area of the County, on January 2, 1918 to the late Raymond & Organ Robinson Rhymer. Mrs. Norris met and married her late husband of fifty-six years, Davis Norris and together they had seven children. Mrs. Norris was a homemaker and very much enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking and especially spending time with her family. Mrs. Norris was a longtime member of the Deep Creek Advent Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Mary Ann Norris and a great-grand daughter, Angie Register.

    She is survived by her children, Alice & Ray Cheshire; Jerry & Shirley Norris; John David & Jackie Norris; Carolyn & George Moseley; Jane & Edward Ritch all of Lake City and Evelyn & Albert Register of LaCrosse, Florida; and a brother, Sellers Rhymer of Chillacothe, Ohio. Sixteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren also survive.

    Funeral services for Mrs. Norris will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 25, 2010 in the chapel of the Dees-Parrish Family Funeral Home with Rev. Howard Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Scott Cemetery (located off of US 441 North at the Deep Creek Advent Christian Church). The family will receive friends in the chapel of the funeral home from 5-7:00 Tuesday evening. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Haven Hospice of the Suwannee Valley 6037 US Highway 90 West, Lake City, FL 32055.

    According to Baker County Historical Society and their Hopewell Cemetery listing, Oregon was born January 8, 1894. But 1894 does not match her age that was listed on Belle's Confederate Widow's Pension application. That year would be about 1884.

    Mark Robinson was married first 30 Nov 1854 to Sarah Jane Barber b. 15 May 1837 in Bryan, Georgia & daughter of Israel Barber, 5 children to this union. Mark served in the CSA in Captain Dasher's Co. 26th GA as a sergeant, captured in Virginia in 1865 and lost two brothers in the war. He married Bell in 1873, had 7 children and died Sept. 17, 1903.--this from Appling, Georgia - Bio Sellers Family

    Widows Pension Claim form says Mark and Belle married about 1873 and Form A of Widow's Pension says married about June, 1867. However, the 1880 census shows her single and living with her mother.
