    Robert Barnett Douglas, 66, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2014, at home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease.

    The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home on Saturday, July 27, 2014. Pastor Ray Dawson of Golden Isles Church of God will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 26, 2014 at the funeral home from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Burial of cremations will be at Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, Virginia at a later date. Honorary pallbearers are Bo Godley, David McKinney, Steve Roberts, Cato Rogers, Lenon Harvey and Allan Cox.

    Robert was born in Jacksonville, Florida on March 29, 1948. He led the way for his twin sister, Bobbie Louise, who was born a few minutes later. He graduated from Palatka High School in 1966, where he played football and was voted "Best Looking" in his senior class. He served in the Army Reserves for six years after graduation. Robert was a master electrician and spent the last 25 years of his career in the paper industry retiring in 2005 from Georgia Pacific (Koch Cellulose) in Brunswick, Georgia as Maintenance Manager.

    Robert loved the Florida Gators and arranged his Saturday golf games during football season around their schedule. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Robert took pride in giving back to the community and participated in Walk in the Park for Autism, Bark for Life and Relay for Life. He often joined his wife and therapy dog, Mack, on visits to see patients at the hospital and Senior Care Center-Brunswick. Robert was predeceased by his parents, William Barnett and Jimmie Louise Douglas formerly of Palatka, Florida.

    He is survived by his devoted wife, Janet Smith Douglas; daughters, Elizabeth (Allan) Cox and Sarah Douglas of Brunswick, and Amanda (Lenon) Harvey of Coco Beach, Florida; a brother, Arthur (Mary) Douglas of Palatka, Florida; twin sister, Bobbie Louise Douglas of Brunswick, Georgia; Beverly (Jack) Logan of Palm Coast, Florida; Sue (Bob) Raudebaugh of Winter Springs, Florida and grandchildren, Mikade Harvey, Mikah Harvey, Noah Harvey, Blythe Harvey, and Blake Douglas Hayes. He also leaves to cherish his memory a special sister-in-law, Jill Thomas, numerous nieces and nephews, and his extended family in Virginia.

    The family wishes to thank Hospice of the Golden Isles, especially Casey Rentz, CNA, Mallory Quinette, RN, Scott Clay, MD and the staff at Golden Isles Family Medicine for the loving care they have given Robert. They also thank Golden Isles Church of God for their generosity.
