    Doyle Elton Worthington Sr., 82, of Lake City, Florida passed away at home Wednesday, April 30, 2014. He was born in Vernon, Florida to the late William G. and Inez [Hicks] Worthington and has lived in Lake City since 1955. He retired as the Assistant Chief of Supply from the Lake City V.A. Medical Center after 28 years of service. Doyle was a loving father, grandfather and friend, who loved playing golf, farming and spending time with his fellow Masons at the Lake City Lodge. He was a faithful member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and will be missed dearly by his church family.

    He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Urban Worthington, his sister, Peggy Miller and in 2010, his devoted wife of 54 years, Frances Worthington.

    Survivors include his son, Doyle E. (Daleann) Worthington Jr. of Jasper, FL; daughters, Lisa (Mark) Dawson & Rebecca (Chris) Dampier both of Lake City, FL; brother, Don (Bonnie) Worthington of Tallahassee, FL; sister, Wanda (Kurt) Koerner of Thomasville, GA; and grandchildren, Clint, Zach, Taylor, Emily, Katelynn, Marisa, Doyle, & Anna-Marie.

    Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday; May 4, 2014 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Louie Mabrey and Rev. Hugh Dampier officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to service time (1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.) at the church.

    Frances W. Worthington, 74, resident of Lake City, Fl, died at Suwannee Valley Care Center Friday, Feb. 19, 2010 after an extended illness.

    She was a native of Columbia County, daughter of Eva Crews Wheeler and the late Willie W. Wheeler, and had made her home here her entire life. She was a charter member of Parkview Baptist Church and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She was devoted to her family and loved her children and grandchildren very much. She also enjoyed gardening, ceramics and reading.

    Survivors include her Husband, Doyle E. Worthington, Sr., Lake City, Florida. One son, Doyle E. Worthington, Jr. (Daleann) Jasper, Florida. Two daughters, Lisa Dawson (Mark), Lake City, Florida and Becky Dampier (Chris), Lake City, Florida. Her Mother, Eva Crews Wheeler, Lake City, Fl. Two brothers, Ed Wheeler (Pris), of Lake City, Florida and Wendell W. Wheeler, Lake City, Florida. Eight grandchildren, Clint Proveaux, Taylor Dampier, Katelynn Dampier, Zachary Dawson, Emily Dawson, Marisa Dawson, Anna-Marie Worthington, and Doyle E. Worthington, III.

    Funeral services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010 at Parkview Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Tatem and Rev. Hugh Dampier officiating.

    Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

    Visitation will Monday, Feb. 22, 2010 from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. at the funeral Home.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haven Hospice, at Suwannee Valley Care Center, 6037 U.S. Highway 90 West, Lake City, Fl 32055.

    Willie W. Wheeler

    Willie W. Wheeler, 62, prominent resident of 51 W. Tribble St ., Lake City, died at the Lake Shore Hospital Saturday morning, November 14, following an extended illness.

    Mr. Wheeler was a native of Columbia County , son of the late Berry Wheeler and Mrs. Minnie Milton Wheeler of Lake City .

    Mr. Wheeler had resided in Columbia County and Lake City for his entire life and for a number of years was employed by the City Ice and Fuel Company until his retirement in 1961 because of ill health.

    He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church of Lake City.

    Survivors: wife, Mrs. Eva Wheeler, Lake City ; one daughter, Mrs. Frances Worthington, Lake City; two sons, Edwin Wheeler and Wendell, both of Lake City; mother, Mrs. Minnie Milton Wheeler, Lake City; four sisters, Mrs. Katy Register, Lake City, Mrs. Lilly Register, Tavares, Fla., Mrs. Sybil Payne, Miami, and Mrs. Mildred Brooker, Jacksonville; two brothers, Arlie Wheeler, Green Cove Springs, and Maxie Wheeler, Jacksonville.

    Funeral services were conducted at 3:30 p. m. Sunday, November 15, at the Parkview Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold F. Green, pastor, officiating, assisted by Rev. Thomas E. Deyer, pastor of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church .

    Interment was in Memorial Cemetery with Sherrill-Guerry Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

    Eva C. Wheeler

    Eva C. Wheeler, 98, resident of Lake City, FL, died at the Health Center of Lake City, Thursday, January 13, 2011. Eva was a native of Columbia County, daughter of the late Arrie Rhoden Crews and Joe Crews. She was the oldest living charter member of Parkview Baptist Church. The oldest of twelve children, family was her life. She enjoyed making biscuits, dumplings and turnip greens for the people she loved.

    Eva is preceded in death by her husband Willie Wheeler and two children, Alton and Frances. Her survivors include: her two sons, Edwin (Priscilla) and Wendell Wheeler. Seven grandchildren: Lisa Worthington Dawson (Mark), Becky Worthington Dampier (Chris), Doyle Worthington, Jr. (Daleann), Wendi Wheeler Meek (Craig), Lori Wheeler Pashley (Ryan), John Wheeler (Casandra), Mark Wheeler (Kristy) and fourteen great grandchildren. Of her twelve brothers and sisters, Eva is survived by Otis, Paul, Eldridge "Bill", Emma Jean Morrell and Lenvil.

    Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Parkview Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Tatem officiating and Rev. Bill Wood. Interment will follow at Memorial Cemetery.
