He was born on June 3, 1942 in Danville, VA.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Beale Porter of Chase City, VA; one daughter, Terri Hollander of Phoenix, AZ; three sons, Daniel Joseph Porter of Perkasie, PA, Philip Michael Williams of Halifax, VA and Mark Williams of Charlotte, NC; one brother Wesley Porter of Columbus, OH; one sister, Elaine Meyers of VA Beach, VA; twelve grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his son, James Anthony Porter and his grandson, James Porter.
Mr. Porter is a Navy Veteran, the Post Commander of American Legion Post 43, a Deacon at Antioch Baptist Church, and a life-long member of the USS Kitty Hawk Association.
