Malcolm II, after returning from the War Between the States, became associated with J.L. Hand, and soon they became the largest naval stores operators in southwest Georgia. HISTORY OF MITCHELL COUNTY, GEORGIA, p. 118.

Malcom is the son of Malcom Wilkes and Frances S. Kersey. Their marriage July 28, 1835, is recorded in Book 1, 1809-1855, p. 203, of the Minutes Laurens Court of Ordinary for County Purposes. It is also listed in Georgia Marriages: 1826 to 1850, by Liahona Research, Heritage Quest, Bountiful, Utah. (They spelled Kersey Kirsey, but the Internet Marriages to 1850 uses the e as well.)

Survey of Thomas County Cemeteries, p. 629, by Joe Craigmiles, lists names and dates of Wilkes family members buried in the Pilcher family cemetery, 2 ½ miles outside of Meigs, GA. Malcomb and Mollie are buried there, along with their daughter Fannie Wilkes Dyson, and her infant daughter.
