Catherine Parnell Wilkes
Catherine Parnell Wilkes, born March 27, 1932, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2008 in Raleigh, NC. She was the wife for nearly 50 years of Jack S. Wilkes. She was born in Parkton, NC, raised in Robeson County and graduated from Parkton High School. Catherine was a dedicated member of Hayes Barton Baptist Church. She served as caregiver and provided support to many in her church and extended family. Prior to retirement, Catherine worked as an administrator for various nursing home facilities in NC and Virginia. She was a loving wife, dedicated mother and grandmother of three children and wonderful friend to many. Her love and friendship touched all who knew her.
Her life truly revolved around the love of her grandchildren. Catherine was predeceased by four sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by her husband, Jack; her three children, Jack, Jr. and wife Denice, Anne Wilkes Bass and husband Tommy, Bill Wilkes and wife Jo Ellen along with six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Malcolm "Mac" Parnell and wife Grace of Raleigh, NC and Alfred "Alf" Parnell and wife Dottie of Parkton, NC.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at Hayes Barton Baptist Church.
The family will receive visitors in the church parlor immediately following the memorial service.
