    BENJAMIN DOLLAR CLAY, 87, of Little Rock, AR, died October 27, 2012.

    He was born on September 28, 1925, in Louisville (Claytown), MS.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen Oscar and Mary Lena Hatcher Clay; five brothers: Harvey, S.O. Jr., Joe, James and Money; four sisters: Mamie Aust, Carmen Etheridge, Lois Dew, and Hattie Fulton; and one granddaughter, Corrie Catherine Clay.

    Ben is survived by his wife of 64 years, Glenda Wilkes Clay; two sons: Stephens Devaul (Kathleen) of Florence, MS, and Gregory Wilkes (Karen) of Little Rock; two grandchildren: Sarah Suzanne Clay (Adrian Hester) of Ridgeland, MS and Bradley Wilkes Clay (Mary) of Conway, AR;•and one great-granddaughter, Fiona Kathleen Clay-Hester.

    Ben proudly served as a Merchant Marine during World War II, joining his five brothers who were already serving in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters.

    He was Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America in Tiffin, OH, Three Rivers, MI, Natchez, MS, and Little Rock, AR.

    He was employed in construction and manufacturing, and retired from Pirelli Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company as Manufacturing Manager in 1989. He was Past Master of Crescent Masonic Lodge #403, a dual
    member in Iron Spring Masonic Lodge #342; and the Scottish Rite (Arkansas Consistory Valley of Little Rock, KCCH, 32nd Degree).

    Ben was a long-time active member of Geyer Springs Methodist Church.

    He loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his family, especially at his annual Family Reunions where he shared many jokes and stories of his life.

    Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 31, at Geyer Springs Methodist Church, 5500 Geyer Springs Road and Mabelvale Pike, Little Rock, AR, with Rev. Dr. Candace Barron officiating.

    Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 30, at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, 5800 West 12th Street, Little Rock, AR.

    Interment will be at Forest Hills Cemetery at 10200 Highway 5 North, Alexander, AR with full Masonic and Military honors.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorials be made to Geyer Springs Methodist Church.

    The family would like to extend thanks to the Nurses and Staff at the John L. McClellan V.A. Hospital.
