CLAXTON - Oveta A. Hendrix, 88, died January 22, 2011, at Evans Memorial Hospital.
The Bulloch County native resided in Evans County for most of her life.
She was an active member of Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church, Farm Bureau, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, American Red Cross and received several awards for her service.
She worked as an Election Poll Manager during many of our county elections.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Hendrix and her son, Carey Hendrix.
Survivors: two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Diane Hendrix of Lithia Springs, GA, and Andy and Patricia Hendrix of Claxton; one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Barry Thomas of Bethlehem, GA; one brother, Louis Anderson of Statesboro; one sister, Dee Clark of Shalimar, FL; six grandchildren and spouses, Chad and Kari Hendrix, Holly Hendrix, Eric and Jennifer Hendrix, Kent Hendrix, Theresa and Kosio Doukov and Bryce Thomas; four great-grandchildren, Sara, Taylor, Connor and Cody; four brothers-in-law; and many other family members.
Visitation: Monday, January 24, 5:00 p.m., until, at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
Funeral: Tuesday, January 25, 11:a.m., at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial: Canoochee Church Cemetery.
